Youths Campaign Against Illicit Sale Of Arms

By Kini Nsom

The Cameroon Youths and Student Forum for Peace CAMYOSFOP, has reiterated its resolve to fight against illicit sale of arms.In a press conference at Djeuga Palace in Yaounde May 13, the Executive Director of CAMYOSFOP, Mr. Eugene Ngalim, said his organization was organizing a series of activities in view of the Global Week of Action against Small Arms from May 22 to 29.

Arms

They are dangerous

Ngalim said they were taking advantage of the May 20 National Day celebrations to put across their messages, noting that youths voted for the unitary state and must remain actors in Cameroon's historical evolution.

He said it is in tandem with this ideology that CAMYOSFOP will be staging a march in the streets of Yaounde against illicit arms proliferations and the upsurge of insecurity in the major highways and cities in Cameroon.

The CAMYOSFOP boss said he would equally hold a press conference on the question of small arms, the UN Review Conference and the Million Faces. Besides, there will be the launching of CAMYOSFOP magazine known as The Voice of Peace coupled   with the projection of video sampling on people's opinion on peace in relation to peace, illicit proliferation of small arms and insecurity.

Created in 1999 and authorized in October 2001, CAMYOSFOP has been fully engaged in an onslaught to eradicate the culture of violence in the society. Little wonder that the youths fully joined the campaign against the rampant sales and use of toys and fire crackers. Stating CAMYOSFOP's commitment in the struggle, Mr. Eugene Ngalim said one person is killed every minute in the world because of illicit sales of arms.

Mr Peter Essoka and Peter Kumche of the Yaounde Trauma center and the chairman of Justice and Peace of the National Episcopal Conference, Prof. Titi Nwel attended the press conference that was moderated by freelance journalist, Patience Elango.

Musician and anti-AIDS crusader, Sylva, animated the occasion with his hit song "the news came like a bomb blast that AIDS is killing in Africa." International film star, Francois Tchaya Tchameni Zigoto Jr. helped to stimulate moments of pleasant suspense during the press conference.

Eugine is an excellent example of an ambitious person. With this quality he will always rise to the top.
Peter

CPDM sponsored organisations in disguise.

This is a very serious matter and Cameroonians should support this.

Not only in Yaounde have there been a series of killings, but also in Douala, especially around Bonaberi, where many innocent and peaceful Cameroonians have lost their lives during attacks organised by armed robbers. Surprinsingly, even the police around those areas consider these killings as single cases. The fact is that a large number of arms is circulating around the country, despite stringent laws on arm possession. If you people don't get up and fight for your safety where you live, don't be surprised that you may be the next to be visited by those scrupolous bandits.

The question of how people get these guns is still to be answered. While stories circulate that police men and gendarms are involved in some of these crimes, one really has to ask, through which borders these arms enter the country. Since the government and its police is not ready to provide reliable security to its citizens, it is possible that everyone would have to get his own gun in order to defend himself when attacked.

Please join the protest!

cha vum na some gun? Them nodi make dis ting 4 cham?

Ngalim,
Your idea to fight illegal possession of armaments is applauded. But when you talk about the youths having voted for a unitary state, you start stepping on our toes and my ire pushes me to ask you whether you are mad ? And which unity are you talking about? It is cos you don't know the nit.ty- grit.ty of the plebiscite and the referendum. Please what you are unlettered about, you must keep your mouth shot ok.
The police and gendermes for the most part are the source of those armaments. It appears they are secretly handing them to thugs to prepare them to assist their military in an eventual onset of war with the Southern Cameroonians .We the Southern Cameroonians are conscious of this and are always on the alert.
God save our land.
Legima Doh,
For SCNC Sweden.

I think the murderous of the CPDM regime are the ones sponsoring this armed robbers who carry guns everywhere. They want chaos to prevail so that they can continue exploiting innocent citizens.

Criminals in the CPDM are everywhere. All they understand is chaos and nothing else. They just want chaos everywhere so that they can cheat, steal while the poor and helpless are dying. Do you think they have any genuine concern for the Mamfe people, the Kumba people, the Nkambe people? They will handpick a few criminals from this regions and give them positions in Yaounde for them to fight against the growth and development of their own people. That is why you hear of the Niba Ngu's, the Muna's, the agbor Tabi's, the Ngute's, etc.

Mr. Ngalim,
Your organisation should start controlling violence from when it is still a still birth. If not, then i'm afraid you would be failing or ,you're spying for La republique regime against the southern cameroon,in an event of war of liberation.
You might hide under the cover of preventing violence in the whole nation, but we know what you and your regime are capable of doing.
If you're really serious about violence prevention, then do something by going some extra miles to look into the possible causes of violenec, and see how you can prevent it from here.Anything short of this,is fake!

Washow(Newzealand).

We need them and we shall buy them. no problem with that.

YOU PEOPLE ARE SECOND GUESTING?
OF COURSE , THE BIYA MAN HAD ALREADT ARMED HIS
MILLITIAS, HIS PRESBY, HIS TUGS, AND NOT ONCE BUT MANY TIMES, HAD TAKEN INNOCENT LIVES WITH THESES ARMS. IN THE UNIVERSITY
PROTEST IN YAOUNDE, IN THE RUN OFF OF THE SDF, OPENING, ETC.
IN SOUTHERN CAMEROONS, THESE BULU, BETI AND PRIMITIVE GANGS IN MILITARY FATIGUES HAVE KILLED OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS
WITHOUT ANY ACTION BY BIYA. AS HE IS VERY GLAD THAT OUR BLOOD IS SPILLED. MEANWHILE SOME SLOW TO SEE, ARE STILL SECOND GUESTING?
ALL SOUTHERN CAMEROONS NEED NOW IS AN ARMY OF ITS OWN,COME TOMMORROW, WITHOUT ONE
WE WILL STILL BE TRAMPED UNDER THE FEET OF THESE BAMDITS.

lets stop the guns.remember the illegal gun you fail to report will kill someone you know or you love tommorrow.
