Student Commits Suicide At Hilton Hotel

Narcisse Pokam Djomo, a postgraduate student in Mathematics and Computer Sciences at the University of Yaounde 1, allegedly committed suicide at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel on Monday August 21. Eyewitness reports say he fell from the 8th floor onto the decking.

The noise resulting from Pokam's fall called attraction to Hilton Hotel as a huge crowd gathered around the entrance.

According to the 2nd Assistant to the Commissioner of the Central Police Station in the Yaounde, Police Inspector, Joseph Avoulou Tolo, the hotel management informed them about the incident at about 11.30 am. The Inspector said the deceased was not a client of the hotel nor was he a worker.

The Post gathered that the death of Djomo Narcisse is linked to suspect homosexual activities in the hotel as a certain persons whose names featured in the list of homosexuals were seen in the vicinity of the incident.

It is also alleged that the deceased had his pants torn and wounds were found around his thighs. Another source said after examination by a medical doctor, it was discovered that Narcisse's annals were possibly tampered with.

The source suspected that Narcisse must have been murdered and dumped from the balcony by the suspect homosexuals. He argued that if he had fallen from the 8th floor on the decking according to police report, his skull would have been scattered into pieces.

The argument was that he would have fallen from the 4th floor, as there was no body lodging from around the 4th to the 8th floor.Information from the police indicates that the body was visibly traumatized resulting from the fall with fractures and wounds on the body.

It is not known how Djomo Narcisse gained access into the room that is accessible only with a magnetic card.As at 3.00 pm while the corpse was still in the hotel, the management blocked entry into the hotel but later convened a press conference with a few journalists.

When The Post approached the hotel management on Tuesday in a telephone conversation, the secretary to the Hilton boss said the information given to the press was same with that of the police.

According to identification papers the police found on him, Narcisse, is the son of David Tchoungang Djomo and Marthe Delphine Djomo resident in Bastos-Yaounde.
The case is currently under investigation at the Judicial Police.

It is really a sad note that this young educated guy has perished with contradictory and frustrating revelations from different sources.Little doubt that this guy must have been menaced and raped homosexually from the scenario at the hotel and from medical reports.Really disheartening that the government never took this issue of homosuality with grave concern with no criminal and civil prosecution against its perpetrators.A young intellectual like this one cannot be used as a sacrificial lamb by these egoistic party pigwigs for selfish personal and political goals.

In Cameroon when you talk of homosuals Biya's law says it is defamation of character simply because those involved in the practice are CPDM pundits and will be free from criminal charges.There is an obvious absurdity compeling the government to prohibit this nonchalent activity which is known as an abormination in the African context.Hope the Hilton management will be ready for a clear and concise accountability,because they should be aware of all their homosexual clients alleged of constantly messing up young guys' annals in the hotel daily maiming them for life.
