Littoral Provincial Governor
Gounokou Haounaye, a devout Moslem, will chair a fund raising occasion for the completion of the new Presbyterian Church, PC, Bonaberi building project, November 19, which will hold alongside the Sunday church service.
Members of the public have observed that it would be interesting to find a Moslem attending a full Christian church service.
The Coordinator General of the fund raising, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Hale, who contacted the Governor, declared in a telephone chat with The Post in Douala on November 13 that the Governor has confirmed that he would be personally present.
Asked about the fact that the Governor is a Moslem faithful, Nico Halle said it did not matter, for "Moslems and Christians are all God's children." He stressed that genuine Christians and Moslems believe in the existence of one God or Allah.
Halle asserted that Gounokou Haounaye "is a man of God." He said the November 19 fund raising is for the construction of God's house, thus all children of God, be they of the Christian or Moslem faith, are rightly supposed to be involved in the project, "for God's glory."
The Ntumfor explained further that as Governor, Gounokou also governs all the officially recognised churches in the Province. As to some other personalities to be present at the November 19 fundraising ceremony, Halle said quite a number of personalities who received invitations had already confirmed that they would be present, one of whom is the Consul General of Nigeria in charge of the Littoral and West Provinces, Gordon Harry Bristol.
He, as well, disclosed that the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Rt. Rev. Dr. Nyansako-Ni-Nku, would officiate at the sermon of that day's church service.
About the cost and state of the ongoing new building project, Halle said the project was initially estimated to cost FCFA 300 million. He disclosed that the project, which has reached an advance stage, has already swallowed over FCFA 185 million being money contributed, so far, by Christians, friends and sympathisers of PC Bonaberi.
Ntumfor Halle launched a strong appeal to all God's children in Douala in particular, to turn up at PC Bonaberi on November 19 and contribute generously to the construction of God's house.
He observed that many Christians live in beautiful houses, but go to worship God in shacks, whereas God's house ought to be the best."Constructing God's house is also building a mansion in heaven, where we will have eternal rest when we die," the Ntumfor said while praying the Almighty to make the November 19 occasion a success, to His glory.
Asked about the state of the preparations for the occasion, he said the Pastor of PC Bonaberi, Rev. Daniel Mukake Kulu, the Project Chairman, Augustine Fosam, himself, the Coordinator General, as well as all the different committees were set for the occasion, and have all been working relentlessly towards making the occasion a success story.
