Electorate Convened For September 30
By Kini Nsom & Nformi Sonde Kinsai
Following the annulment of parliamentary election results by the Supreme Court sitting in for the Constitutional Council on August 8 in the Wouri East, Moungo South, Mayo-Tsanaga North, Nyong and Kelle and Upper Nkam constituencies, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, has convened re-runs in the five constituencies.

Even a re-run might not change things for the better
In a presidential decree made public on August 29, the re-runs will take place on Sunday, September 30.The court's decision cancelling elections in the aforementioned constituencies was prompted by the huge fraud and irregularities that characterised the July 22 polls.
The decree was, therefore, in accordance with the law which says
partial elections must be organised within 60 days in the
constituencies that suffer election results annulment.
Seventeen MPs are expected to come out from the re-runs to make up the
163 already in the National Assembly to give the official figure of
180.
The constituencies would produce the MPs as follows: 3 MPs from Nyong
and Kelle, 4 from Mayo-Tsanaga-North, 4 from Wouri East, 3 Moungo South
MPs and 3 Upper Nkam.
It should be recalled that on July 22, the Minister of Territorial
Administration and Decentralisation, MINATD, Marafa Hamidou Yaya,
declared the CPDM winner in those five constituencies.
The partial elections of September 30, therefore, will give another chance to other parties to try to grab seats in parliament for the ongoing 8th legislature. The main parties that will be involved in the elections re-runs are the CPDM, the SDF, CDU, NUDP, UPC, MP, MDP and other small parties. The stakes of the partial elections lie much with the SDF that is battling to have a parliamentary group.
The results of the July 22 polls that the Supreme Court proclaimed on August 10, gave the CPDM 140 parliamentary seats and the SDF 14. Reacting to the cancellation, the Deputy Secretary General of the CPDM, Grégoire Owona, had regretted that such a ruling was against his party because it was the CPDM that won in all the five constituencies that have a total of 17 seats.
He, however, said they (CPDM) respected the decision of the Supreme Court and promised to fight hard to win back the 17 seats at by-elections.The Secretary General of the SDF, Dr. Elizabeth Tamanjong, had, on her part, said her party was putting in place campaign strategies to win the seats. A separate presidential decree also called for the organisation of municipal elections in the Lobo Council of the Lekie Division in the Centre Province on September 30.
Elections did not take part at all in Lobo because of squabbles that caused the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court to place an injunction on elections in that council area.

".The court's decision cancelling elections in the aforementioned constituencies was prompted by the huge fraud and irregularities that characterised the July 22 polls. " by the Post
Then reconcile it with the followin:
"It should be recalled that on July 22, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, MINATD, Marafa Hamidou Yaya, declared the CPDM winner in those five constituencies" by the Post.
But the Post forgot something; that Marafa did so even before Official Counting of Votes.
Biya has proved Marafa wrong, he's simply telling him:'you're over pleasing me, by over cheating'. Marafa is the fraud machine; he is the fraud genius of the regime. This man, has the blood of the Cameroonians dripping down his lips. And yet has the gods to say "elections were free and fair". This same man, aspires to replace Biya when he steps down or embraces destiny. This same traitor of democracy aspires to the Prime Ministerial Position. Marafa, has a doctorate in "Lies Telling"; he perfectly masters the art of thievery.
Peace upon our land
