The National Football Federation, FECAFOOT has given a subvention of FCFA 200,000 as well as five balls to each of the 33 feminine football clubs in the national territory.
The clubs turned out to collect the money at the federation headquarters in Tsinga on September 25.Given that the lack of finances has been one of the hurdles plaguing female football, the president of the National Commission of Feminine Football, Rose Nyobe expressed joy that this gesture is the first of its kind since the existence of the federation.
Though the sum according to observers is very meagre, she said it is a good beginning. Mme Kaba Odilia, President the Northwest Provincial League added that from this humble beginning, like Oliver Twist, the Commission on Female Football could prevail on FECAFOOT to consider increasing the amount.
Following the programme for the season, the zonal tournament kicks off on September 29 to October 7. The National Championship is billed from October 12-17 in Yaounde, and eliminatory matches for the Cup of Cameroon from October 19 to November 4. The final of the cup of Cameroon is billed for November 10 in Yaounde.
