Tuesday, February 26, 2008: The strike took a turn for the worst with protesters going into business premises to make sure that they were locked. In Kumba, the national treasury, taxation office and brasseries were set on fire. Everything is still grounded.

There were series of meetings in Yaounde and Bamenda between government officials and the population to look for a lasting solution. In most of the towns in the country, the population is still determined to continue with the strike action.  Increasingly, there are fears that there might be food shortage in the days ahead. bread is already not available and the price has doubled.

Solomon Tembang, a Reporter who works for Eden Newspaper who travelled to Douala on the eve of the strike to print the newspaper is reportedly missing. All attempts to reach to him by phone have failed.
