The Olympic team has received the country's blessings as the Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni, in the company of other government officials, handed the national flag to Cameroon representatives to the Beijing Olympic Games.
The ceremony took place at the National Olympic headquarters in on July 25 on the eve of the departure of Cameroon's athletes. Addressing the athletes, the PM urged them to uphold the tenets of fair play and discipline.
From the record of Cameroon's Olympic hero such as Joseph Bessalla in 1968, he exhorted the athletes to follow their footsteps and through the fighting spirit, participate honourably and make the country proud.
Frank Martial Moussima, 2007 Gold medallist in the All African Games and vice champion in the 100kg in the university games, was chosen as the flag bearer of the 33 athletes. It is noteworthy that 44 officials that have nothing to do directly with the game are part of the delegation.
Cameroon would present athletes in nine disciplines, that is, football, judo, table tennis, athletics and swimming amongst others.
