Chief Endeley Showers "Efasa-moto" Blessings On Mbango

The Paramount Ruler of Buea,  Chief Samuel Moka Lifafa Endeley, has expressed the blessings of the ancestors of the people of Buea to Cameroonian Triple Jump Gold Medallist, Françoise Etone Mbango.

At the second stopover of a national tour, which began in Douala, October 25, Chief Endeley told Mbango in his Mokunda Palace that she took her powers from the mountains and the sea and so the ancestors are happy that she is back to say thank you to them. "My daughter, that is a mark of respect from your part," Chief Endeley mentioned.

Dubbed the Françoise Mbango Golden Tour and patronised by the President of the Republic of Cameroon, the tour, which took off timidly in Douala, Saturday, October 25, had a pomp at the Buea stopover, Sunday, October 26. 

Mayor Buea Municipality, Charles Mbella Moki expressed delight in Mbango's visit to Buea. "She has brought honour and fame to Cameroon. Honour should be given to who honoured is due. You went, saw and conquered in Athens and Beijing,' Mbella said.

The Buea Mayor praised Mbango's spirit of hard work, discipline and her vibrant attitude. "You are a symbol of progress and success to the Cameroonian woman and the youths. The government of Cameroon recognises all your efforts in upholding the Olympic spirit in the country," he said.

An elated Mbango thanked the people of the Southwest Province for the sacrifice made to receive her in style in their province. "I'm on this national tour to say thank you for all your support and to all Cameroonians. Therefore, I dedicate these medals to the President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya and wife, Chantal."

Mbango encouraged the youths to do same like her. "My advice to the Cameroonian youths is that they should not get into the easy way of making it in life and to look for money. They should embark on hard work," she added.

Southwest Provincial Governor, Louis Eyeya Zanga said his province is paying tribute to Mbango because she is the pride of the Southwest Province, Cameroon and the African continent.

Eyeya entreated the two-times Olympic Gold Medallist to stay on course, stay focussed and prayed that she makes it once more in 2012 in London, England.He saw in Mbango a disciplined, committed and patriotic athlete. "She deserves our respect and that of all Cameroonians. Go forward, we're behind you, God is guiding you," the Governor wished.
Since 1998, Mbango has won a total of 8 Gold Medals and 8 Silver Medals in her athletic career.

After Buea, Mbango will be in Bafoussam on October 28, Bamenda on October 29, Ngaoundere on November 2, Maroua November 4, Garoua on November 7, Bertoua's turn will be November 10, Ebolowa on November 12 and will close in Yaounde on November 15.
