If the new Divisional Officer, DO, of Limbe, Jean Paul Tsanga Foe Vital, puts into practice Fako SDO's installation orders to the letter, then, hordes of shacks, ramshackle structures and lots of other rickety contraptions that line most Limbe streets will vanish.
When the SDO installed Foe as the new Limbe I Subdivision on Friday, October 10, he crowned the ceremony with firm instructions for the DO to clean the streets of all makeshift markets, shacks, and dingy furniture, roadside garages, kiosks and other objectionable things strewing the town.
If and when Foe sets out on a demolition mission, he would have to begin along the stretch of the road leading from Mile One down to the centre of town, at Half Mile, where motor mechanics and motorcycle repairers, cars, pedestrians, kiosks, makeshift wooden cabins and stalls virtually compete for space.
"It is not normal that we continue to witness the presence of markets and garages along our roads," the SDO said. "This must stop… Limbe must change," he added.Foe was taking over command of a town that witnessed a horrible armed robbery in recent memory.
The SDO, thus, urged him to be ready to ensure that the people of Limbe and their property are well secured from any future mishap."You must be firm. Limbe I must be a secured place for all its inhabitants. The administration is doing everything possible not to give peace to the enemies of peace," the SDO said.
As to how Foe is going to ensure security, the SDO enjoined him to work hand-in-hand with the mayor of the town to ensure that all the unlighted streets and corners of the town are lit up; all inaccessible quarters opened up and, above all, ensure that the beauty of Limbe, its tourist pride, is guaranteed.
No More Spikes
The SDO further enjoined the new DO to do everything in his capacity to
put an end to usage of spikes on the highways by transport officials,
municipal police agents and others.
He said the usage of spikes as an instrument to track down traffic defaulters was against the law.
"I have no room for further negotiations with people who disrespect the law and its administration," the SDO stated.Foe took over from Peter Itoe Mbongo who had served Limbe as DO from July 28, 2006.
Itoe will on October 17 be installed in the same capacity as the DO of Kumbo Central Subdivision.Meantime, before his appointment as DO of Limbe I, Foe was the Economic Affairs Adviser to the Southwest Governor in Buea.
The installation of the DO of Limbe was the last lap of long installation campaign during which Fako SDO installed six newly-appointed collaborators of his in Muyuka, Tijo, Buea, Limbe I, II and III.
On October 8, Benjamin Epee was installed as the pioneer administrator of the newly carved out Limbe III Subdivision. The SDO proceeded to Mukundange on Thursday 9, where he crowned Charles Fomubod Duala as the pioneer of Limbe II.
Limbe was in April, 2007, apparently for political reasons as many hold, split up into Limbe I, II and III.
