Cameroonian Is JCI Executive Vice President

By Walter Wilson Nana

Roland Kwemain, 37, is the Executive Vice President of the Junior Chamber International, JCI.Kwemain was elected amongst 3,500 delegates from more than 100 countries that met at the JCI World Congress in New Delhi, India, from November 3-10.

Going by his new position, Kwemain would be in charge of Africa and the Middle East. Under his jurisdiction, The Post learnt, are four other Vice Presidents that cover 33 countries.Kwemain, who is a graduate of the 18th JCI Japan Academy, is now the number two of the organisation.

The Executive Vice President is expected to be a motivator to his four other Vice Presidents and 33 National Presidents. He will also be a promoter of the vision of the JCI World President, represent the President when necessary and will be expected to chair an Area Conference.

"I will also have to ensure the success of the JCI World Congress 2009 in Africa, which for the first time in the history of the organisation will be coming to Africa, with Tunisia as the host country," he said.

On why he was elected, Kwemain said: "One wins in JCI because members put their trust in you, you are known and there are indications that you can deliver the goods. The entire Africa backed my candidature and my vision. My plan of action was indicative of positive tidings for the organisation, the different stakeholders found my candidature worthy enough, as well as the element of destiny. God wanted me to be there," he explained.

Before becoming Executive Vice President, Kwemain was the Chair of the African and Middle Eastern Development Council, AMDEC. Kwemain also held the position of JCI President for Cameroon in 2006. He is a JCI Certified National Trainer and has attended five World Congresses.

Besides his activities at JCI, Kwemain is an IT consultant, and the Executive Director of the Buea-based Association for Development Communication and Environment, ADCOME.
JCI has a 200,000-man membership across the world with a President and four Executive Vice Presidents with same rank. These Executive Vice Presidents are assigned to four areas of the globe, as divided by JCI.
