Prof. Maurice Tchuente has replaced Prof. Peter Agbor Tabi as the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Buea, UB. Agbor Tabi also takes over as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Yaoundé II, Soa.

Tchuente, who is former Higher Education Minister and former Rector of three Cameroon State universities, was installed Wednesday, January 7. The installation follows the appointments of Rectors and Pro-chancellors of State universities in the country, recently.
While installing Tchuente, Higher Education Minister, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, described him as a man of science who has, for many years, enjoyed the confidence of President Biya.
Fame Ndong said Cameroon is honoured to have a man of Tchuente's quality.Fame Ndongo urged Tchuente to promote peace, dialogue, solidarity and social cohesion and the new university governance policy in UB.
Earlier, UB's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vincent Titanji, said Tchuente is no new-comer to UB, as he has been a former Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of Academic Orders and Chancellor of UB.
Titanji said the outgone Pro-Chancellor has contributed in building the peace and tranquillity that UB enjoys today.Agbor Tabi, who came to UB on September 13, 2005, advised UB authorities to give Tchuente the same support that was given him.
Other Replacements
The newly created University of Maroua has as Rector, Prof. Edouard Ako Oben, Jacques Nfouma Akame takes over from David Abouem a Tchoyi as the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Yaounde I, while Prof. Oumarou Bouba is the new Rector of University of Yaounde I.
He replaces Dr. Dorothy Limunga Njeuma. The Pro-Chancellor of the University of Douala is Prof. Theophile Ngando Mpondo. He has taken over from Prof. Augustin Kongchu Kougmeni.
