Regardless of who we are and where we live, there are a finite number of variables determining why we elect to pay so much for a piece of furniture, a car, a loaf of bread, or a medical service at the local clinic or hospital. A most important of these variables is price – Can I afford it? More often than not, the price is secondary to or dependent on the need. Therefore, if we desperately need the item or service and can afford it, we are willing to pay the price tag. In this follow-up piece to an earlier posting which I titled “The Chinese of Province of Cameroon”, I am positing that the Chinese bait of selling new and defective products is largely succeeding in Africa because of a wanton absence of any consumer protection agencies, little consumer knowledge, and governments made up of officials who have inoculated themselves from the ability to care enough for their people.

China is a real friend to Africa and we need their services for now that we are not yet able to produce for ourselve.I will encourage Africans to embrasse the Chinese, they cause less harm to us than the Europeans.China should be welcomed in Africa, with the Chinese partnership there is hope for our continent, the Chinese have never ploted a coup etat in any country in Africa as the European have been doing till now, dealing more with the Chinese will decrease political tension between Africans hence decraese insecurity. Our partnership with China will be a good security strategy for Africa.

No doubt about that, the Chinese so far have been less likely to interfere by supporting coup d'etats but they support dictatorial regimes that do harm such as the islamic extremists who currently run Sudan. The Chinese are also a very patient culture. Will take their time, and when they are indispensible will start using their power?
I am not against Chinese people settling in Africa, but many African governments are not thinking it through. It cannot be a passive exercise left to chance. They have to have a plan and consider what it is that they want, and what skill sets they need. It is a mistake to allow mass immigration of buyam sellams because it will cause conflict with the masses of people scraping a living without government help. Once the Chinese people have come, is the policy to let them return or to help them assimilate and eventually nationalize. This is important and there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Have they thought about it at all?

It is short sighted to critise the Chinese presence in African while ingnoring the Europeans who still support leader like Paul Biya,Abulah Wade, and many others.I want to also warn Africans whose source of infomations come from CNN,BBC or any of the western media that you will not get the true concerning Africa from these medias. We see more of the Chinese wrongs because they don't have tv channel in Africa to defend their position in the continent just like the west. Learn from history whitemen have always mislead African who give them their attetions what makes you feel they have change? Therefore think well before you take side.
