Police Constable, Hervé Touodo Djomo, 27, who allegedly gunned down his colleague, Claude Obam Ndoum, 33, in the dawn of April 17, in Douala, has been suspended from his functions, and stripped of his epaulets. The two allegedly quarelled over a woman before Djomo resorted to the gun solution.

Djomo is awaiting trial, pending an autopsy report on the deceased.
At a brief and solemn ceremony aimed at officially removing Djomo's epaulets for three months, at the Second Mobile Intervention Unit, GMI 2, in Bonanjo, Douala, on April 19, Superintendent Antoine Bagnale,
who represented the Delegate General for National Security, said the police corps must always be of exemplary behaviour.
He said the disciplinary measure meted out to Djomo is intended to show the public that charity begins at home. "If criminality must be combated, we, too, must start by showing the good example. We have to fight recalcitrance from within," said Bagnale.
He added that it has been reiterated time without number by the Delegate General, Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o, that defiance within the profession would always be rigourously punished. Looking downcast, Djomo burst into tears and wept endlessly.
The Story
Earlier, the Commissioner of the Littoral Judicial Police, Ferdinand Ondoua Billé, whose unit is handling the matter, told this reporter that Constables Djomo and Ndoum worked at the GMI 2.
"They were known to be great friends and neighbours. They both occupied studios in the neighbourhood of the UCB headquarters in Douala III. They both graduated in 2002, and were transferred to GMI II in 2003, Ondoua Billé said.
“On the night Ndoum was killed, we were reliably told that he had just returned from Sangmelima when his friend, Djomo, invited him to join them at Rue de la joie, Deido, for fun.
“Due to fatigue he did not stay long with his friends. He retired shortly after. Djomo followed a while later. He is said to have taken leave of his room mate for a moment before the room mate started hearing him scream "Claude is dead, Claude is dead".
Ndoum had received a shot in the neck. Billé said investigations are still going on, though Djomo is to be tried for the alleged crime after an autopsy has been performed on Ndoum's remains.
Djomo's Fate
As to what becomes of the suspect murderer, the Commissioner of the GMI 2, Gibiring Garba, told The Post that in addition to the security boss' suspension, he would still have to face the court a second time.
He said he had been tried, but the court ordered for an autopsy to establish a sentence for him.
And if he is judged and found guilty, he would have to serve his term before resuming functions, and if the sentence exceeds six months, he would be automatically sacked from the service.
Garba was bitter about the fact that a policeman should be found loitering with a gun when not on duty. It would be recalled that Mebe Ngo'o, on April 18, suspended Superintendent Paul Motaze, also working at the Judicial Police in Douala, for three months.
He is said to have given Djomo the Browning pistol he was found with after the murder.

THE COMPORTEMENT OF OUR POLICE FORCE TODAY GIVES US THE IMPRESSION OF THE KIND OF INDIVDULAS OUR CORRUPT OFFICIALS GET THEM INTO THE POLICE SCHOOLS THROUGH UNORTHODOX MEANS, IN THE NAME OF "I WANT HELEP MY SISTER YE PIKIN ENTER POLICE COLLEGE,I WANT HELEP MY COUSIN, I WANT HELEP MY PETIT FRERE"
OUR POLICE COLLEGES TODAY IDENTIFY WITH THESE INDIVIDUALS WHO ONCE HEADED (OR ARE STILL HEADING)MONSTROUS CRIMINAL GANGS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. INDIVIDUALS "BLESSED" WITH SKILLS TO SHED THE BLOOD OF POOR CAMEROONIANS FOR MONEY!
WHAT DO WE EXPECT THEN OF THESE EVER-BLOOD-TOUCHING INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE WELL TRAINED BY THE GOVERNEMENT TO PROPERLY HANDLE A GUN?
WHAT HAS BECOME OF THE FACILITIES OF THE 70'S THAT DOGGED A CITIZEN'S CRIMINAL RECORD BEFORE RECRUITMENT INTO THE POLICE FORCE? WHAT HAS BECOME OF THE LAW THAT PROHIBITED A POLICE OFFICER TO BE IN POSSESSION OF A GUN DURING OFF-SERVICE HOURS?
LE CAMEROUN C'EST LE CAMEROUN. ON S'EN FOU!!!
