Barrister Muna: Bakassi is in the Southern Cameroons, not in Nigeria, not in la Republique du Cameroun. Read the very transcripts of the case at the ICJ. Is la Republique du Cameroun a successor state to the Southern Cameroons? I would like to see you and Professor Anyangwe argue this one out. I will not bet on you winning the argument. Be honest about this, sir! Two thieves fighting over a third person's property went to court and the court gave that property to one thief, saying that he had more merit. That is the substance of the World Court judgement. I hope Professor Anyangwe sees this and writes a response. Or the other learned gentleman Barrister Charles Taku.

John Mukum

Handing over Bakassi to Cameroon is not a prerequisite to occupy a permanent seat at the UN Security Council.

Ben Muna, you know the facts and stop playing music to Paul Biya - he will not appoint you another "Biafran" or "enemy within" to his cabinet. The UK does not have to hand over Gibralter to Spain in order to stay in the Security Council.

La Republique du Cameroun has no maritime boundary with Nigeria. That is what your father the late S.T. Muna went to the United Nations along with J.N. Foncha in 1994 to attest. They stopped over in London and issued the London Communique which laid the foundation for the struggle against the annexation of Southern Cameroons by La Republique du Cameroun. Don't you know the facts?

Mukum

Asking Nigeria to hand over Bakassi to its legitimate owner, in order to secure a seat at the UN is naive. I believe there is a judgement from the ICJ on Bakassi and its text of application which has to be executed. If we shuffle away from that judgement we will be beating about the bush. Furthermore, there will be some obvious reforms within the UN, come September, but there are no clear indications that the existing members of the UN security council will open up for reforms to admit new permanent members. They will prefer reforms that will restrengthen and turbocharge the organ, giving it a more functional role rather than expanding it. The African continent is always an unfortunate loser at international affairs because of greed, selfishness and disunity. It would have been plausible if Africa is presenting a single front at the UN, in other words if the AU is seeking a pernament seat at the UN that would draw some concern from the movers and shakers of the UN and might coerce them to ease their obstinate view.

lantum

ben muna have drank majornga, and lost his brain like most dellout anglophones. its really shameful. its not worth calling him barrister, how came he is not advocating for the creation of a british museum to comomerate anglophone history and experoence with the british?

Janvier Tchouteu

Handing over Bakassi to Kamerun should not be a prerequisite for Nigeria gaining or standing to gain a seat at the Security Council.

Even though I differ with Ben Muna's way of engaging in the struggle for change in Kamerun, I agree with his views on the Nigeria-Kamerun issue. I say so as a Kamerunian union nationalist.

On the contrary, though I share similar or perhaps deeper abhorrence for the Ahidjo-Biya regimes and the system as a whole vis-à-vis the Southern Cameroons advocates, I strongly reject their distortions of history and blind interpretation of facts.

Kamerun is a geo-political entity and whether we chose to call it Cameroes, Kamerun, Cameroun, Cameroon with prefixes and suffixes, nothing will change the fact that it has a fixed surface area that is recognized internationally. Name changes or rectification would be done through the consent of the people after we get rid of the system and lay the foundations of the new kamerun. But at no time in the process would the geo-political reality of the land change and those who advocate that Nigeria keep Bakassi for reasons they best know should be considered as enemies of the people as much as those in power who are leading Kamerun into abyss and are plundering the nation.

Master.P

Monsieur Janvier,
Where has Southern Cameroons distorted
facts?Old habits die hard.Keep deluding yourself as a Union Nationalist.Thing will get dirtier becuase people
of your ilk who are bent on suppressiing the truth has no modicum of reconciliation in their mind. There is a sword of Damocles hanging over our heads willy-nilly.

Jo

Janvier,
Bakassi doesn't belong to La Repulique du Cameroun. Can't you Francophones get that into your skulls. Bakassi is a landed property of the Republic of Southern Cameroon, and Nigerian government is just being fair by not giving what belongs to one country to another, while waiting for the full restoration of Southern Cameroon.

Francis Nche

Mr Jo,
If you are a chistian, you must be aware of the statement that Jesus will come again. Maybe Jesus will come before your waiting for the full restaration of Sourthern Cameroon is over.
I know for sure that SCNC and the so called Southern Cameroon faithfulls are Paul Biya's weapons of divide and rule policity. Now there is SCNC1, SCNC2, Some advocate for embassy in Yaounde. When Paul Biya would have divided you people untill you will indivisable, he will turn to the last divide and rule tool in his arsenal which is to put Christians in Logger-head with Muslims.
I am disturbed to see Biya using our brothers and sisters for his diabolic ends.

jo

Mr Nche,
I am not interested in throwing balls left and right, as others do in this forum. I rest my case. Thanks.

MBIANDA DENIS

Mr. FRANCIS NCHE

Thank you Sir, I thought I was the only one seeing the faction and blunders of SCNC. We are expecting a third faction very soon.

SJ

“A self-serving obfuscation. The writer is free to act counsel for La Republique du Cameroun. But his appeal to international law on that country's behalf sounds histrionic when it is recalled that that country's
international delinquency is incurable. That country is a human rights grave yard. It has never and does not respect its colonially inherited borders as they stood on the day of its national ‘independence’ from France.

Which international law rule sanctions expansionism and colonialism? Which international law rule or principle or treaty gives it title to the Southern Cameroons?

If La Republique du Cameroun seeks equity it must come with clean hands. But the hands of La Republique du Cameroun are not only very dirty but are thoroughly soaked with the blood of nationals of the Southern Cameroons."

All you SCNC "advocats des diables" of this forum need serious help. in fact you need a crusade with billygraham before parkinson's disease wastes his poor life!

"La Republique has no right to Bakassi WTF**k?!" i am sure u guys are looking for independence as a biafran state under Enugu!

what will it profit a southern cameroonian if bakassi becomes a nigerian territory?

ALL of you need Jesus!

chai see as goose pimples de catch me!!! c'est pas possible!

Che Sunday (Dr.)

Often times, naivity gets so close to stupidity that differentiating them becomes a task equally as dificult as separating siemese twins. To be so naive as to think that the birth of a Southern Cameroon nation will automatically mean adding the Bakasi island to such a country only goes to show how devoid our society is of constructive thinkers.
Nigeria went to court with the government of Cameroon. Like it or not, its a legal fact. Should the two Anglophone provinces seceed, they will either have to become a third party to the legal struggle over ownership, if the situation has not been resolved or will have to go into negotiations with the current or future Cameroon government over its ownership. If Southern Cameroon becomes a nation, France will not go away, ELF will not go away. These are facts. Elf has extensive oil exploration rights on and around the coastal regions surounding the Island.
Do you think they will readily come to the negotiating table with an anglophone government. Bear in mind that Elf was not just created as an oil company. It was an arm of the French intelligence service. So, to those with a dream of a Southern Cameroon Republic, when you dream of rosier times ahead, don't forget the difficult ones. Try to tell those you intend to lead that they may just have to sacrifice a lot of limbs to get to the promise land.

boni

So, Dr Sunday, we should just fold our hands and accept injustice because there could be difficulties ahead?

Ernest

I understand the positions of pro-and contr-Southern Cameroons Independence. While the SCNC and other pro-southern Cameroonian advocate for independence they should recalled that the demands are made in the wrong place.
The only legal ground is that British never granted formal independence to Southern Cameroon before Referendum and this option was never in the agenda. Therefore SCNC should seek for their independence from Britain and not La Republique du Cameroon. Given that Britain is in the Security Council, the prospects for any positive response are zero. Britain from the onset refused to annexed Cameroon, when the League of nations gave them the mandate of Cameroon, they divided and according to Lord Lugard’s book “The Dual mandate in British tropical Africa”, Britain was devoted much of its energy in exploitation of economic and mining resources and the submission of the population to British legislation without development. All southern Cameroonians were obliged to attend college in Nigeria and they never created even primary schools. It was thanks to the Missionaries and local authorities that primary schools were created.
Therefore those Anglo-saxon advocates should curse the English way and know that any thing they are experiencing today is the seed planted by British. How can you fight to preserve the values of the very british that ruined you and as the queen one said “ The southern Cameroon was a good gift for France”. We are lucky to have been re-united with our brothers rather than sold to slavery by the british and we should work to build a united strong Cameroon.

m2d

I have to say here that I am not in favour of SCNC. They are a bunch of confused people. The problems we as Anglophones face will not go away overnight with the creation/independence of a Southern Cameroons State. People, stop being naive. The issue here is; does Bakassi belong to Cameroon or Nigeria? according to the ICJ, it belongs to Cameroon and that is final. So it is just plain stupid to be talking of Bakassi belonging to Southern Cameroons. It doesn't even exists!

Band of hyprocrates! Why don't all of you guys that advocate the SCNC thing resign from the La Republique posts you occupy? If a referendum were to be held on this issue you will pick your shock! All the SCNC gang doesn't even weigh a pound! You are a disgrace to Anglophones. Take my advise, and take it seriously: If you wnat to achieve somrthing tangible and substancial for the Anglophone community in this life, stop advocating seccession and settle for a federated system, for it is achievable. Keep the seccession agenda for your next life! Frustration go show wina something.

The SCNC might be corrupt, but gains made for the Southern Cameroons are enormous especially through SCAPO and Ambazonia. The only incorruptible and prestigious organization of the Southern Cameroons cause is AMBAZONIA led by Fon Gorji Dinka. Cameroun itself at the ICJ confirmed that Bakassi is in the Southern Cameroons. This is the TRUTH. THE ICJ ruling was flawed and controversial, because the President of the ICJ, a French, threw out interpleaders by the Southern Cameroons/Ambazonia.

BIGGEST CORRUPTION REVEALED BETWEEN BARRISTER MUNA AND CAMEROUN

Southern Cameroons intelligence sources from BUEA today July 4th, 2005, reveal that Barrister Muna, a Southern Cameroonian, is selling out and acting on behalf of Cameroun in attacking Nigeria about Bakassi in exchange for their family Hotel in Buea, which the family has been trying to reclaim for years to no avail. Barrister Muna had even sued Cameroun in the UK for the Hotel. As bargain plea, Cameroun has handed the hotel back to the Munas in exchange for Barrister Muna attacking Nigeria on Bakassi. This is the reason for the incoordinate posting Barrister Muna made. SHAME! on you Ben Muna! Please give this posting the widest publicity nationally and internationally.

I don't see what Mr Carlet Agbor Etchu wants to dramatize in this issue. A patroitic Cameroonian (Barister Ben Muna) speaks out against foreign occupation of Bakassi and many people are quick to distort his point. Many people from Northern Cameroon, Eatern Cameroon, Western Cameroon etc are speaking out. It could be strange if any people from Cameroon speaks in favour of Nigeria. Nigeria is profiting to continue its delaying tactics to withdraw from Bakassi and to continue drilling oil there because of this confusion. It is high time we stand as one Man and speak with one voice and when Nigerians would have completely withdrawn from Bakassi according to the ruling ot the ICJ, we can start arguing over our internal difference. We should know that Cameroon is made up of about 275 different tribes and any one of them has a reason to give not to be in the United Cameroon which we are priviledged to be a part of.
Many people may hate Paul Biya, this or that pressure group or political party but what most of us are United about is being priviledge to be a part of such a beloved country like Cameroon. Let's rejoice! Paul Biya will go, CPDM, SDF, SCNC, Abazonia etc will go but our beautiful nation will always be there for our children and other generations. Let us not because of hatred for Paul Biya betray our own children by letting Nigeria part away with our land.

Charles Forkwa

As far as I am concerned Nigeria can have Bakassi and all the wealth beneath it. That country is as currupt as Cameroon and reliquishing the land to Cameroon will not make a difference.
The current oil revenues from South West does not even benefit her. What will gaining Bakassi acomplish? More oil revenue for the thieves?
Why would you want to fight for something that neither you nor your compatriots will benefit from?
I say Nigeria hang on to Bakassi!

dango tumma

muna son from his posting sounds like he is taking sides with the french cameroun.
have he forgotten his fathers roots? or hus father didnt put some hisrory in his head when he was in grade school in mankon?
southern cameroons is a country, a souvereign country with international recognised boundary, and had ahd a functioning government and a president, you called it prime minister or king. we had an econony, a parliament, before this false union of independent by joining thing came about from the united nations, just a confusion that wont sink well with any nation on earth, how can a nation be independent, then joining another nation?
soo. here we are today trying to correct the mistakes of the past, clearly there losers and there are gainers. muna want to belong to the side of the gainers, ie la republique du cameroun .and nor southern cameroons, but not only muna, agbor tabi, njeuma dorothy, jean tabi et egbe, kima tabong , nzo ekangaki, knowingly or not thre have sold us out by belonging to the wrong side. else this strugle wont have lasted uptill 44 yrs, such what i promised is, toevery deed ,there is a reward, i will reward death by hanging in the public square of all the munas, who have contributed to the mass sufferings pf our people for not doing theright and insted helping the colonizer.
