Another Cameroonian movie, Before The Sunrise, will be officially launched, Friday, July 29 at the Hilton Hotel, Yaounde, Producer, Gilbert Agbor Ebot, has told The Post. "We will kick off the launching on July 29 in Yaounde, July 30 at the French Cultural Centre, Douala, July 31 at Atlantic Beach Hotel, Limbe and subsequently in Bamenda," he said.
Before The Sunrise also features Cameroon's Makossa star Jean Pierre Essome.
The producer said the movie is a typical Cameroonian story, with the setting being Eyumojock.
"It is focussed on two families; one from the Northwest Province and the other from Ejagham, Eyumojock, Southwest Province," he explained.
According to him, Before The Sunrise is unique: "We have the best cast, technicians, best rising stars like Ivan Namme, Queenta Eyong, Magdalene Agbor, Goretti Folefack and more.
Before The Sunrise will also be put on the Nigerian market. I am a producer registered in Cameroon and Nigeria," he said.
Ebot said he is not just a producer. "I am the owner of the storyline. As a producer, I source for funding, manage it, get a marketer and groom upcoming artists. I also ensure the adequate promotion of the movie," Ebot explained.
Despite the absence of marketers in Cameroon, Ebot said Before The Sunrise is still only being distributed; "We do have distributors and not marketers. A marketer is somebody who can buy the right of the film and carry out reproduction and subsequently distribute. However, the film will be sold in Cameroon like any other home videos. The posters of the film are in Nigeria, Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea."
On what it takes to be a marketer, Ebot said; "With time they will see the advantages of the movie industry and the profits they will reap if they get into marketing. During the launching, we will propose. My worry is with the talents that are out there. They are eager to work but the resources are not there."
Ebot said the production team is using Before The Sunrise as a bridge to walk across to a land full of gold, diamond and water.
Debut actor, Namme said of his experience, "It was a journey worth taking. It was hard but I did it.
I hope when subsequent opportunities come, I will do my best."
Namme said he has been acting all his life. "All my life, I have been acting. I knew I was going to be an actor. In secondary school, I exhibited this talent with my friends and they would not stop encouraging me. Hence, I was convinced I could do something. So, when this opportunity came, I could not let it go."
Acting alongside Zach Orji, Dakoré Egboson, Jacobs Olu, Fred Amata, Namme did not feel eclipsed.
"Initially, I thought I was not going to make it. However, when I found myself on the set, I was flowing. I was not competing with anybody," he said.
Production Manager, Tahyang Tabe, said Before The Sunrise is a hit.
"It is a hit.
This is a film that has come to stay. It is the first Cameroonian movie with class. The producer did his job. A lot was put into it. The production team was perfect."
Unlike other movies, Tabe said the price will be affordable. "We have a pricing policy affordable to everybody.
I will not let it out now. But it will be very encouraging. We will also penetrate French-speaking Cameroonians, with Jean Pierre Essome featuring. The posters are also very attractive."
