Ronald Fusi Atoh, the Public Relations Officer of the Universal Peace Federation UPF, for Cameroon, has described the country as spiritually bankrupt despite the fact that it is endowed with enormous human and economic potentials.
He made the revelation during a press briefing ahead of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon's visit to Cameroon at the Yaounde Hotel La Residences recently. The briefing held within the framework of announcing the visit of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon the Co-founder of the UPF, and wife to the founder, Dr. Sun Myung Moon to Cameroon on Monday July 24.
Against the background of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon's tour of 180 countries, with the aim of preaching the message of peace, Ronald stated that the problem of Cameroon is mental not material, adding that a change of mentality to imbibe true love is panacea to world peace.
He described true love as living for the sake of the other, adding that the UPF undertakes educative training hinting that there is no potential training without a strong spiritual foundation. He said the absence of war does not entail peace as the mind and body are in perpetual conflict, thus underscoring the necessity for peace.
UPF, a supra-denominational and national faith-based organisation, according to Ronald Fusi Atoh, has made propositions to the UN for reforms to be carried out in the interest of achieving world peace.
The UPF, according to him, has proposed the creation of a bicameral organisation involving religious people to mediate between politicians and the International Highway Project to be constructed by all governments geared towards peace elusive in the UN.
Identifying the successes of the UPF through its founder, Dr. Sun Myung Moon, in averting the third world war and a peace programme in the Middle East put in place, Ronald, however, stated that selfishness and absence of true love hinder peace.
He disclosed that UPF's objective is one invisible God and one indivisible world and traced the origin of the organisation working through NGOs to 1920 when the founder, Dr. Sun Myung Moon, had an encounter with Jesus who asked him to establish God's kingdom on earth.
The UPF contributes to the fight against AIDS by encouraging youths to work for peace through sports and community services amongst many other programmes in the field of arts, sport, agriculture, technology and ocean enterprises in 190 nations.
