The meeting was convened by the Vice-Chancellor and attended by the Pro-Chancellor, and a special delegation sent by the Minister of Higher Education. The main agenda of the meeting was to brainstorm on the possibilities of resolving the crisis and to re-establish a peaceful and conducive learning environment at the University of Buea.
During the meeting, members of Congregation expressed deep regret for the untimely death of Professor Herbert Nganjo Endeley, Deputy Vice-chancellor in charge of Research and Cooperation and the death of two students off the university campus during the strike action. The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the University community expressed his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Cornelius Lambi called on members of Congregation to brainstorm on the unfortunate situation and to seek practical and humane solutions that can ensure an effective take-off of classes. The Congregation discussed the immediate and long term causes of the strike, its implications, consequences and agreed as follows;
That calm has returned to the University of Buea campus. With reference to worries about the security of students, academic, administrative and support staff, Congregation was informed that security measures have been put in place on and off-campus to ensure that rights and security of students and staff be respected.
Congregation was also informed that security around student residences will be immediately stepped up to prevent any act of violence. Consequently, members of congregation came to a consensus and unanimously agreed that classes should resume on Thursday, 07 November 2006. All staff and students of the University of Buea are therefore requested to be in class from Thursday, 07 December 2006.
Congregation upheld the recommendation of the Committee of Deans and Directors that the Oral Examinations into the Department of Medicine be slated for Wednesday, 06 November 2006 at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Buea.
Concerning the issue of Convocation, Congregation decided that Convocation, which was initially scheduled for Saturday, 16 December 2006 be postponed due to the present state of events on campus and that a new date for Convocation will be decided in the future.
Finally, in a bid to seek lasting solutions Congregation set up a committee of academic, administrative staff and the University of Buea Chaplains to dialogue with student leaders and arrive at a consensus. A meeting to this effect has been scheduled for Monday, 04 December 2006 in the board room of the Main Administrative building at 4.00 p.m

Lambi, in a civilized society on your own, you should have resigned your position, even after the call,for your resignation you is still not good enough.
Posterity will catch on you not too long from now.

Dear Members of the Congregation,
We do not need such lengthly uneplolatory press releases.
All we need is for Lambi and co to adopt the list of students who supposedly passed the entrance examinations into UB medical school. We do not think these soo called clergymen are trying to legitimise mediocrity for meritocrary.
The Jury is illegal and the additional list of 26 students added into the list need to be scrapped as they have not passed the traditional entrance examination. Additionally, Lambi and co who have directly implicated themselves should resign.
Anything short of that will not be tolerated by rightminded Southern Cameroonians.
