The Nkor Council in Bui Division has voted FCFA 124.867.069 as this year's budget. In a high note, the Mayor said the council was proud to be first in Buea Division to successfully stage a FCFA 2,000,000 Mini-Agro Pastoral Show after the Divisional Mini-Agro Pastoral Show launching by the Governor of the Northwest Province in Kumba.
Opening the budget session, the Mayor of Nkor Council, Nfi Yungsi Omer, said because of recent instructions from MINATD, the councillors were to deliberate uniquely on the draft 2007 budget leaving aside the administrative, management and stores accounts for another session come March 2007.
The Mayor was particularly displeased to note that activity tax evasion in Noni Subdivision was making it hard for the council to provide the population with priority needs. However, he promised to continue educating them as he had earmarked two seminars for 2007 in "Civic Education of the Population and How to Raise Funds for the Council."
Despite the difficult financial situation, Omer revealed that the council has rehabilitated Lassin Water Supply scheme for FCFA 20 million, the cattle market for FCFA 4 million, recruited some eight support teachers to assist the newly created GTC, GHS Djottin College and Ngeptang-Din Community College.
The Mayor also with revealed that Nkor Council had gone international with her new website about three months, giving the address www.nkorcouncil.org.
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion the SDO for, Bui Abath Zangbwala Magloire used the occasion to remind Noni people to get the computerised IDs and register now on the electoral register.
The Nkor Council 2007 budget which has witnessed a drop of 9.3 percent compared with last year's budget; shall achieve the following set goals; construction of five modern toilets in Lassin Nkor, Bamti, Ngeptang and Djottin, rehabilitation of Bamti and Nkor
water supply schemes, rehabilitation of Dom-Banten road; the grading of Djottin-Mii newly opened road and the employment of more support staff to secondary and high schools and the Noni Sub-Division Hospital.
