Weh, this is really sad! A terrible loss. May their souls rest in peace.

What a great lost for the Anglophone community. How many more people have to die on these roads for action to be taken? I can’t name how many intellectuals we have lost over the last few years. I can't believe that BB is history. I have not contributed on this forum for long but this is a shocking news. May his soul rest in peace

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT.....

IS BB OF UB DEAD?

I CANT FIND WORDS
TO EXPRESS THIS LOSS
BB, AMBE, GWANGWA
ALL DEAD?
THEIR DRIVER INCLUDED

NAMA, HERBERT,NJIKI AND NOW BB
OH UB!WICKED UB!
WHAT ARE U DOING TO UR OWN?
NEED WE RUN AWAY FROM YOU?

UB, YOU UNITE AND THEN DIVIDE
AFTER BB CAUSED THIS CREAM OF SCHOLARS
TO CONVERGE AND SAVOUR
THE NEW DISH HE HAD PREPARED
IN GUISE OF A BOOK LAUNCH
WHICH HE TITLED "DISGRACE"

UB YOU DISGRACED YOURSELF
AS YOU TOLD THE WORLD
THAT YOU KILL YOUR SCHOLARS
YOU KILL YOUR GUESTS
YES, YOU KILL EVERYONE
SO IN THIS PROHETIC DISGRACE
HOW DARE YOU CLAIM YOU ARE THE PLACE TO BE?

BB,YOU DIED A WARRIOR, YOU DIED ACTIVE, YOU SET AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL...BUT THIS VOID I FEAR SHALL BE TOO MUCH FOR BUTAKE AND NGWANE TO FILL..

THE SPHINX

I SAID IT SOMETIME AGO THAT THE SONS OF WEST CAMEROON ALL DIED IN EAST CAMEROON.

ROLL CALL:
NAMA DIED IN DOUALA
HERBERT: DIED IN DOUALA
AND NOW BB, KWASE, AND HILARIOUS

Everything happened so fast.
Even before we could savour the new recipe BB had on the literary plata for us, we were yet awakened to another bitter reality....

BB DIDNT EVEN HAVE TIME TO DISCUSS HIS OWN BOOK....THE MAN JUST DIED FOR REAL...AND HE DIDNT DIE ALONE..HE DIED WITH OTHER LITERARY FIREBRANDS OF HIS CALLIBRE!!!

OH DEATH! WHY SHOULD YOU DO THIS TO US ?

TAKING BB ALONE WAS BAD
TOGETHER WITH KWASE WAS EVEN WORSE
ADDIND HILARIOUS MAKES IT ALL PATHETIC
WE LOST BB,KWASE, HILARIOUS, AWOH
ALL IN ONE SWOOP IN FRENCH CAMEROON TERRITORY

MUST ALL OUR SONS DIE IN FRENCH CAMEROON?

Aunty J.

This is absolutely incredible? Where is the anglophone literary community heading to when the maestro's (the best in the country) in the likes of BB and Gwansen Gwanga'a are brutally sent to their early graves. The few people left to bring some sanity within the ranks of this chaotic system are ushered out of life in such an uncouthed manner!!! CRTV too will witness a serious setback with its already dwindling image. Where are we heading to!! GOD HELP US!!!
INSHALLAH!!!

Watesih

Something is definitely wrong with higher education in Cameroon. In 2004 ,a number of rectors met their death on this same Edea highway. Now this is just an attempt to eliminate the cream of Anglophone consciousness.Just imagine Gwangwa`a ,BB,and Ambe passing on at the sametime.Who else of substance are we going to have ,and look up to? May their souls repose in Peace!

R.I.P brothers. May the Lord give you eternal rest.
We cry, because of the legacy you left. Your good works and creativity inspires us...We pray to be stronger and carry on with that spirit of dedication, commitment and love for one another in our quest for knowledge and better life for those to come after us. I give thanks to the Lord. It's painful but it's real and a road we all will walk down one day.
Bless us oh Lord!!!

Very soon this blog will be filled with gossip, speculations, politics and whatever. Plz keep that off!
No mention of CRTV here, with all the big brains there, they cannot manage or update their website, not to talk of local news. Even if we raise the death and give them, they have nothing to offer.

Yours is a life that ended before it could start. You made us proud. In you we felt a sense of identity, a mentor, and a patriot. You never gave up even under pressure from the authority. FREEDOM INKED was the title you gave us. But the INKED is to heavy for us to handle. We cannot handle it as you did. So we are left wondering.

As you and Dr. Hilarious Ambe, Kwasen Gwangwa, and Tabe Awoh rest in peace, pray for us, yes pray that we have the courage to handle the FREEDOM INKED you left behind.
May your souls rest in perfect peace.

I can`t believe I am talking about our great minds in the past tense. Yes, I can`t believe it. Why is all of this happening to us? Where did we go wrong?

Aldrin

What a loss to our community. I think of Bate Bessong as a great man who put Anglophones on the map with his literary work of art. The man was passionate, full of life but more importantly enjoyed what he was doing. Think about it very few people are like that in this modern day society. I also feel for the loss of his colleagues. This is so tragic and may the souls the departed professors and the driver rest in PEACE PERFECT PEACE. DAMNIT I will not get over this one for a while

This is a great loss to the Southern Cameroonians Community. Bate was very strong in the struggle for the liberation of the Southern Cameroons. May his soul RIP.

What exactly went wrong? On coming truck crush their car. I hope we get a detail explaination of what happened because it is not an accident if a truck hits an in-coming car.It is manslaughter.

I hope the gendarmes and police of la republic are not only there to collect 200frs on the highway but also to investigate incidence like this.I don't want to hear that the above reason given as the cause of death is an outcome of a police/gendarme investigation. That is probably the conclusion of people who arrived at the scene (or witness it happened). The police/gendarmes have to dig further and tell us what happened.

GilbertChina

Is this a true story or a fiction? I can't still believe my eyes. Someone tell me, tell me if this is true, then a big blow to the Anglophone community. May their souls rest in perfect peace where we shall meet to part no more. This world is a stage and we all have our turns. Let's ask ourselves what people will say of us when it's time to leave the stage.May our Almighty God Grant these great souls eternal rest.

It is sickening to get such news. I am dreaming. I hope to get up from this dream soon. So I will never sit with BB at Sandpit junction anymore. My heart goes to his wise and 'smart'son - Mandela.

Words alone cannot describe the shock about the news of your death. I got a call from Peter Elad (Dante) of Greeat Soppo informing me about your death. The reasan he called me was to let me know that my mentor, teacher and role model; the writer as an obasinjom warrior/ political tiger is no more. I could not believe what he told me since a few days ago I was having a conversation with Barrister Taku in Freetown Sierra Leone as to how to assist in the forthcoming book launch since it was impossible because of the nature of our jobs to be in Buea for the launching. Thus, I was taken aback this morning when i got news of your death. When I got the tragic news, I took a walk down memory lane and I could see you teaching us the Elechi Amadi's The Concubine with the famous words "Death is a bad reaper, always harvesting the unripe fruits". Your death is a classic example of what Amadi was describing in the Concubine.
BB, you may have gone but your good work will never die. You left a legacy for posterity. As a teacher and mentor you did not only inspire me but other aspiring and ambitious young men and women; Gwanvalla Francis, Stephen Ojong, JK, Fai gamal(RIP),Matumbwambo, BB Junior, Bell Emmanuel, Katy Ebot, Fon Erick, Epanty Rene, Peter Elad alias Dante etc etc. You were a genuine scholar and Intellectual in the Fonlonian sense of the term. Your were a mentor per excellence, a big brother, a teacher and an academic role model. My dream of geting into academia was due to the fact that I had someone like you to look upon as role model.
I am trying to reach Barrister Taku and Mr. George Ngwane so that we can think of creating a Bate Besong Society.
Adios il professore,
Rest in Perfect Peace BB

I have watched the film about the assassination of Dr. Moumie in
Switzerland, in 196o on www.dibussi. com. I believe all those,
especially West Cameroonians, who are
opposing the French-backed La Republique du Cameroun government
should take due precautions in their daily lives:

1. Do not attend parties in Europe or abroad in an indiscriminate
manner. Make sure the person inviting you is a very close friend of
at least 10 years or a very close relative. Further, you should go
with at least two of your comrades.

2. Do not date women with links to the French secret service.

3. Be very careful when you have an appointment with people closely
associated to Le Chef de L'Etat ou le gouvenement de la Republique.

4. Do not have lunch or dinner or dates with "French"
journalists/diplomats unless they were your classmates at
University. Discuss with them on a public phone or E-Mail.

5. Do not disclose your movements. Moumie disclosed his whereabouts
to a woman called Lilian F. This was a fatal mistake.

6. If you are an opposition member living in Africa or America, do
not come to Europe or America unless it is absolutely necessary.

7. Do not leave your drink or food unattended in a public place. You
may be poisoned by Polonium or Thallium.

8. If you are invited to Yaoundé, La Republique du Cameroun or any
country within FrancceAfrique (Gabon, Congo Chad..), make sure you
announce it to the whole world.

9. If you are driving in Cameroon, make full use of your mirrors and
drive a very fast car so that government terrorists may be outwitted.

10. Do not open letters without them being checked for genuine
contents.

Moumie and his UPC at the time (not the UPC today) were the bravest
of Africans who tried to drive out the colonialists forever. What we
have today as opposition is pure time-wasting and self-centred.
Moumie's tenacity, intelligence, conviction and courage are needed
to
drive out the genocidal French governments and her African agents in
Cameroon and Africa in general and Southern Cameroons in particular.

Finally, if you are opposing (peacefully or otherwise) a puppet
government backed by the French regime, do not do it in a rush. Plan
it well in advance before you administer the deadly first and
crippling strike.

Southern Cameroonians TAKE NOTE. Some of you continue to be deluded
into believing that you are from La Republique. You are NOT.

It is with pain, fear and unbelief that I found myself in when I got this news from this end of the North Pole.I would prefer to think it is a dream than reality. We cannot afford to see this continuous loss of great men and women of the academic world so prematurely.I strongly believe men have down played nature against people's innocent lives.BB was not only a man but a resource that cannot be replaced.
We are amazed.
My condolence to the family
May his soul Rest In Peace.

I cannot believe that four people that I know and with some that I admire will come to leave this world at the same time.
I will start with BB.As a lover of theatre arts, BB was an idol to me.I admired him as a writer and dramatist and an outspoken social critic.
I came to know his 'Soul Mate', Dr Hilarious Ambe just about 8 months ago.In these 8 months, I have been working together with Dr Ambe.We worked tirelessly together during the Trade fair that took place in Buea.I can remember him in this words which he will usually say when we are drinking. He will say 'I am a scholar', and this in the same voice as BB.He will tell us BB is his his mentor. We will rarely converse a whole day without him bringing in the name of BB.He would always remind us that in his CV, he will never forget to put that he was a 'Roast Beef Vendor'.That is, he once roasted soya in Kumba.
It's really a coincidence that he died alongside Awoh. When Ukwa (Nkem Owoh) came to Buea, Awoh was working with us.He was the one driving Ukwa. And Dr Ambe was the one looking after Ukwa during that period. We worked all of us tirelesly during that show.Dr Ambe trained the girls who danced with Ukwa that day.
Tabe Awoh brought us back from Bamenda to Buea safely after the show in Bamenda with Ukwa.Despite the tiredness in him, he drove slowly and steadily and we reached Buea with no problem.
I have always loved Kwasen Gwangwa since I started watching the numerous plays and sketches he directed. He was one of the rare anglophone directors that ever existed. All his works I have watched have been like 'dont stop watching'.I started watching Focus on Arts when I was in Class Seven, and will never like to miss it.
The types of BB and Dr AMbe will rarely be seen.I can still get the voice of Dr AMbe talking as if it were BB talking.BB was all to him, and he decided to go on the same day with him.
May the Almighty God grant all of them eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom.

Prince the Don

I dont know how to swallow their death.I first heard of BB's death, and I thought,'he is always with Dr Ambe'.So I decided to call Dr Ambe just about 3 minutes after I heard of BB's death.I said, 'Dr, its Derick', and somebody emse answered, 'Dr Ambe is dead'.What I was afraid to hear, I heard it.I dropped the phone with disbelief.

BB, Hilarious, Awoh and others should rest in perfect peace. Most accidents on good roads are caused by high speed n reckless driving on the path of the victim. On such roads like the one linking Douala n Yaounde, who is to be blamed? Many people who have used this road will agree with me that it is a death trap; too narrow, winding, unshielded n vision completely prohibited by branches of trees and grass.

I was a living witness of a situation in which about 6 vehicles in a row including mine were almost crushed down last December 4th. I was on my way to the Douala airport from Yaounde and somewhere before Edea, traffic was blocked by a transporters bus that had a break down. While drivers and passengers were still contemplating on what to do, a truck fully loaded with timber and throttling from Yaounde almost crushed us down. After horning at full loudness and discovering that the traffic was still, the truck driver decided to change to the oncoming traffic lane, of course ready to crush down any thing that he met on his way this time. Luckily, within his breaking distance, there was no on coming vehicle from Douala.

I was later made to know that such cases are common and passengers who use this road simply have to give their lives to God and be prepared to die at any time.

What a road network that we have in Cameroon

What a country that we have

God save Cameroon

May the souls of Bate Bessong,Hilarious Ambe,Kwasen Gwangwa, and Tabe Awoh rest in peace.

The loss of Bate Bessong is a loss not only to the Cameroonian literature that he gave much expression to, but also a loss to the efforts to give meaning to the vision for a new Kamerun.

You will be missed. RIP ("TAVARISHI")

Fon

The price we are paying for bad roads is just too much; it is more than what it takes to have good roads. This particular stretch of road between Douala and Yaounde needs to be an express one at least; in this case one will never hear of a head on collision.
The sadness is more than to express with an elegy. To the immediate families of BB et al, my family share your grief. While you mourn, do not think it is the end of the world. Lets also thank God that he gave persons of their calibre in the first place.
BB et al RIP

Ma Mary

The frogs are on course to destroy Southern Cameroons through devious means in order to complete their annexation. Those who have eyes, let them see. They are about to remove the very ground from under your feet, but the prescient ones such as these precious playwrights, poets and film makers, have to be eliminated so that their mission is not revealed to the world. The ignorant and greedy ones like the Fon of Bali, are opening the excuse for the ethnic cleansing of the Southern Cameroons. Some Bamis might also fall for the trap and initiate a course of revenge that will result in the eradication of both Bamis and the Southern Cameroons. That will be very convenient for Paris and Yaounde. There is so much more going on. Why does that agent provocateur, who goes by the false name of Mukete, original mukete, Gladys N, Willy etcetera (your style never changes, fool) always choose times like to vomit his most calculated provocations?

Riccardo, do not be naive. This is the real field in which you are playing.

Epizi

Free minds always follow free grave, while those who own the world fallow for the immortal statutes in their cupboards. Just as Shakespeare puts it' The earth is a stage and we all as actors play our parts'- certainly true but then so painful and disdainful to attribute such irrevocable verdicts on stage, especially to those who make the everyday of a sector alive. When intellect and creativity is put at the back seat and credibility ridicule even by the gods Cameroon, then it is really dooms day.Professors and Dr answer the role call mysterious in roll from one of many universities in the country.

Recounting how BB in the old days of lycee will slowly walk down the stairs after class, wait for anyone behind him to be ahead, and even stay in class sometimes until the stairs were empty, every real thinker will fancy a due genuis protecting life in that earthly habour that savour litrary brilliance in lycee students.BB and co in the lines of George Ngane, Mbulai and others formed the craddle of awareness to feed the candle of Anglophone literature.

Come see BB on monday in the corridors of UB after a previous Cameroon Calling interview on the air. I remember he asked me if I listened to him and I said not quite and he said I was a mediocre while laughing in his normal way!!! I also recall when Hon Najeme was celebrating after the paliamentary election and stumble on BB while jubilating and BB simply reminded him of leaving sasse in form 2 again laughing.

Bate Bessong told Ephraim Nbanda G after a series of questioning to set him astray during one CC broadcast on African literature that he was a born a cameroonian. His ussual reaction to questions regarding high sounding words in his work was that he writes of intellectuals not dummies.

The last time I almost fainting with laughter was during one of the strike in UB when Dorothy summoned the teachers to a meeting and asked them to teach. In a queit forum with every lecturer buying his head, BB just started clapping and spoke up front to Dorothy- Madam why don't you put all the teachers in class and teach and write a report to yaounde that classes are serious as is always the case!!

All these in essence is just to reveal how bold and ready he was there for what reveals truth and reality. So outspoken yet commited. He contructed and inspired beyond doubts.Every student to BB does literature!!! Ah! see how heros leave the scene unannounced

BB is no more yet on earth, but in his admirers he live, thouh not soon but surely soon.He took away even Ambe and Ngwagwa'a, one could easily speculate for the gap he left. Remember however, that a dog that bits even in its absence the eyes of its youungs flashes danger!!! The see is planted, thy job well done, now time to geminate, all we as anglophones owe him is to continue the fight for freedom.

In peace may this souls rest.

How many Ministers and their families need to be causalities and Statistics on the YAOUNDE/DOUALA Highway before CHANGE can occur??
RIP< RIP Dr. Bate Besong, Dr. Hilarious Ambe, Kwasen Gwangwa, and Tabe Awoh have joined the statistics with respect to the number of innocent souls dead along the YDE/DLA road. They will be missed by all who came in contact with them or their continued effort to educate the masses. It is HIGH TIME as we move into the next elections to DEMAND from PAUL BIYA and the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT wider-lane-roads for our safety as Cameroonians who constantly travel on these busy highways. HEAD ON COLLISION is the number ONE killer on our major highways in Cameroon. Voters need to STEP UP and DEMAND CHANGE for every life counts not just the ones who fly on helicopters named after our great mountains and lakes.
GOD will take good care of these dearly departed, for the meant good to society. DD

Klemenceau-Shalom

I have been resisting saying this but I can't keep it any longer.
The sudden death of BB and others is a big blow to the Anglophone education.
Those who knew BB know how outspoken he was. We all know that BB could never see something fishy and keep quiet. In fact he was a thorn to the flesh of many especially to the blood drinkers and corrupted in the Biya regime.
Something tells me that BB might have been killed. Someone might think I am crazy or childish but this is the deep feeling I had immediately I read the caption above.
Those who know Cameroon and how the regime in place functions might see with me. They might have been trying to take this man's life to no avail, and they have finally succeeded.
I hope those who plot the death of others will live forever.
God knows how to pay such evil doers.
Cameroon is ruled by the devil and his agents. God should help us before they wipe away all Southern Cameroonians with the help of some selfish, evil and money minded Southern Cameroonians.
I might have written nonsense but that is how I see BB's death.
Shalom

What a big loss for the literary community in Cameroon. Bate Besong was the “AKWAYA” of these days, now he is no more. When are we going to have another BB? And from where will he/she come?
It is time for Cameroonians to rise up and condemn the works of Satan in University of Buea. Enough is enough. Those who were not there at inception of the University are now paying for the sacrifices that were demanded and which were never given. Too bad for the families who have lost their dearly beloved husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, bread winners and relatives. Let God send His Host of Angels to fight for children of God in Cameroon, Buea University and Buea. What happened to the Buea University Christian Association of Julius Esunge? The forces of darkness in operation then under the leadership of Mrs. Dorothy Njeuma could not allow this group to operate freely. They were disturbed in some ways.
The Bakweris should get up now and possess their land instead of leave it in the hands of Satan himself to destroy the University in their land. Don’t only continue saying that “we are sons of the soil”, as if there is some other person who doesn’t belong to a certain soil.
Brothers and Sisters, let us all come to the Lord, for it is only in Him that we can find total protection. May the Lord comfort and bless the families of the departed.

fotus20

BB,You are a great man. We shall forever remember you in all we do in live. Your traces shall never be forgotten. Travel safely to your new home and prepare a place for us.RIP.

Cheboy

This story must not end here. The Post should carefully follow up and inform us about the event just before and after the accident. Who was this truck driver? What kind of truck was it? What was his destination? What was his mission? How did he come to the other side of the road that was not meant for him? Or did BB's care go to his own side of the road? How many people were in the truck? Have they been questioned individually? Was there any possibility to avoid this accident?

We the readers need to get answers to these questions. When I remember how people like Gabriel Obenson, Roger Motaze and many others died, I don't wipe out conspiracy in this fatal accident that gave the victims just no time to fight for their lives in a hospital. Even though it might still be a natural accident, we need answers to these questions. Cameroonians should get up and change this country by making leaders who shall improve our transport system and road safety, otherwise many of us shall be victims of such accidents. Even if it were conspiracy, a good traffic system would have enabled the victims with a window to escape.

As a Science student, Bate Bisong was never my teacher but he taught my friends, including Pegue Manga of The Post while we were in Lycee Molyko. I enjoyed him so much, especially his friendship with George Ngwane at the time, and his criticisms to the school administration during our strikes in 1993/1994. May the soul of all the four departed rest in peace.

Commando

This is no news (or perhaps good news) to the military junta in Yde as whenever the leader of this junta has to go out, all other traffic is grounded and most often he goes by air. The Yde/Dla § Tiko/Dla highways are perhaps the most deadly in the whole world.

Great people never die. May their souls be at peace always. Dr BB et al, we will never forget you and your works will remain to bear fruits to generations to come. It is time people start running away from UB.

In Cameroon, you're just not safe; either news of thieves butchering, road accidents or brutal shootings from the arm forces.

What a shame to die in this manner.

Makolo

I am still in shock since getting this sad news yesterday. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

What i just want to remind us about is the fact that this must not neccessarily be considered an accident. Remember those days of Jean Forchive, the Slaughter man of Paul Biya ?? Many great Cameroonians lost their lives via such mean and ochestrated by the slaughter man.

I will consider these deaths as Murder unless the authorities of La Republic bring in an independent body to investigate the circumstances. However, i am fully aware that this will never happen but the blood that has been spilled won't go in vain.

sisi

Oh no!!
May their souls rest in peace.I am sure going to miss Gwangwa. He had such good plays and BB's funtime.
One thing though.Somewhere in the article,it is written that Dr H.Ambe and BB were soulmates. No offense but was BB gay or what?Somebody pls enlighten me abeg!!

It is not necessarily gay.

Oh oh this is actually a very sad piece of news.It is actually a great lost not only for their families but to most Cameroonians as well.Well not much to say since God is the one who giveth live to us all and he is also the one who taketh too.Maybe the world loved you very much but God loves you much more better than we do.And what has happened can not be reverse any longer. So i know that no matter what we do or how much we cry it will never bring you back to life. For we are all strangers in this world and dead is the final destination for every one living in this world whether the dead is natural or caused by man.But the fact is every one will one day pass through this same road
My condolence to their families.May their souls rest in perfect peace and ma the Almighty God to grant them eternal rest.

Spako

May the souls of these departed men rest in perfect peace. Amen.

I just broke this sad message to a friend and colleague of mind last night. His immediate response baffled me. Hear him ' Oh my God, so this is actually working...wheeeeee.... Witchcraft and Occlutism. He went on to explain to me that he had always had the feeling that there are some people in UB practising witchcraft and occultism.
I got a bit interested and asked him why he thought so. He said, as a pioneer of UB in 1993, he came accross some high ranking officials of UB performing a kind of sacrifice in the campus late one night. His friend who observed this with him that faithful night, later died in a motor accident a few months later and his corpse was the first to be laid in state in UB. Surely there must be someone on this forum who can remember if this really did happen.
I donot believe in witchcraft. But it is hard sometimes to explain certain occurences linked to one particular place, person, institution or members of that institution. For those who believe in witchcraft, is it possible that something fishy is happening in UB. UB has lost so many lecturers in a very short space of time. Its not too normal.
My colleague went on to tell me that the next morning, on his way to lectures he stopped near the spot where he saw funny things happening the previous night and realised freshly dug ground in an area that was completely green with a small plant on it. As of the time he left UB in 1997 a wire mesh was placed around the plant eventhough it has not grown at all from what he first saw.
Dose this make sense to anyone here. I have watched movies and seen how Black Magic works. Can this be real.
We cannot under rate the supernatural powers of witchcraft but can this actually push someone to his or her death.
You had better watched!

Spako.

Never speak ill of the dead whom the gods love to see die young. What is life? These are prominent scholars leaving the world unceremoniously.I remember what my grandfather told us before dying. He said we should live together like brothers and do business like strangers since we should trust no one.Till date I cannot trust anyone even my own brothers.

Jealousy, envy and bias in the UB has been something of concern. It will be recalled that some 4 prominent and renown professors lost their lives in thesame dramatic way last year.As if this was not enough those witches and wizards in UB have continued with their evil act in their world of vicious circle until the UB continue to mourn learned colleagues of this calibre.

About 75% of deaths in Cameroon have been reported to be caused by mysterious forces and many of these people never write their wills.Sorrowful indeed.Reason why jungle justice have been rampant in the recent years where an angry mob has no option than to react immediately when some one kicks the bucket mysteriously.

Bate Besong use to tell us; "A book is like a garden carried in the pocket".From his words we acquire a lot wisdom.Let his life and others rest in perfect peace.

Yes, Spako what your friend said is real and can happen. The truth is this: at inception of the University of Buea many things were done on the campus by the so called owners of the land and which started with things like the mysterious deaths of many students, including the one cited by your friend in 1994, 1995, and even part of 1996. At the time the public tried to point fingers to other students and even to some lecturers, but the truth is those were the sacrificial lambs.
What went wrong was when the Buea traditional rulers at inception invited their king or god of the mountain “EPASAMOTO” and the goddess of the sea “NYANGONAMUANA” to come and bless the land. Have you ever seen Satan do anything good? Satan can never do anything for free. Satan will always only demand blood, because he/she needs blood to live. There is life in the blood, reasons why Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God had to shed His blood in order for us to have life for FREE.
These people of the traditional council in Buea and the authorities in place at the university then, being who they are did not realize that nothing good can come from witchcraft or the occultist groups which later gained grounds on the campus as opposed to any Genuine Christian movements that wanted to at the time.
It is so unfortunate that none of them have ever lost a love one in all these tragic circumstances, in order to understand what it means and feels like to lose a son or daughter or husband, brother or sister, or just someone you love. The entire university campus needs to be sanctified in and out for things to gain normal grounds again. Parents who send their children to UB, be careful not to allow them become cheap meat for “Epasamoto” or “Nyangonamuana”
It is so sad, when others are looking for ways to forge ahead in development, we in Cameroon are looking for ways of remaining behind. Shame to the entire Government.
LET GOD HELP US! AMEN.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of these good men who worked for a better Cameroon.

I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to both Dr. Besong and Dr. Ambe a few years ago. I am a professor in the United States who brought their work back with me. Their work and words will live on through the hearts, minds and actions of those who know of the work they leave behind.

They and their companions will be missed.

May they rest in peace.

Hmmmm hmmmmmmmmm hmmmm i'm tongue-tied as it's a mourning morning 4 me and i ache and sorrow @ losing 4 compatriots @ once.I remember that Shakespeare wrote Hamlet when tortured by gout.Ibsen had diabetes.Jonathan swift was an epileptic.Handel wrote his best music after his doctor told him that he had only a few months to live.
Tell us,our literary mentors, what were you suffering from.........?
I read a good number of works by BB,watched Gwangaa's "FOCUS ON ARTS."I was a die-hard fan of his when i was in my early teens till when i left home.
We have 4 deaths in our hands, going through tough times to accept reality. You have all graced our history, died like legends, when i'm sure you would have preferred to be just men.I'll abstain from asking all the "wh"questions because we will surely spend the rest of our lives where you are and he that looks @ dead men's shoes may have chance to go barefoot. One thing i know is that the great and good do not die even in this world.Embalmed in books, their spirits walk abroad.
Some people look to religion for a code of behaviour. All i have to ask is "what will BB,Awoh,Gwangaa and Ambe do in this situation since others join me to confirm your resourcefulness?
We will never be exactly the same, but we are ready to go on...You 4 will become the seeds of a new beginning, somewhere we are yet to know.We will cry [as Shakespeare says"tears water our growth."] 4 you and others, and maybe that will always be so.Some days and times may always bring tears. We understand and accept that as part of LOVE but mind you that, the died are not gone yet, until forgotten. But can you 4 see what i am trying to say?
I am saying GOODBYE!On behalf of your fans,we will always hold you as the ocean holds sunlight,so say a prayer 4 us as we say one 4 you.
Christ does live, and we do live at the same time.Christ does live and his love is here.He ALONE has never moved. That's the statement of the RESURRECTION.Nothing dies and nothing ends. When we reach one conclusion we only become part of another beginning.Every seed had its
EASTER.
2 the family members and faithful friends who are in fragile emotional states,i'll say prance about in black dresses and say"i'll spend the rest of my life there..."
Death is always the veil which those who live call life. They sleep and it is lifted.
4 BROS,your electric personalities however will continue to light the world.2 all the world just 4 but to some, all the world.
ADIEU.

Assasination/death has been the most extreme means of censorship. So ripsnorting playright, Bate "BB" Besong and his comerades has been censored using this means. That they were crashed by an oncoming TRUCK carrying Stolen Timber?enroute to the port where,it will be taken overseas for finished product and returned back for consumption with a swollen price stamped on the products.Either it is simple tragedy or a man made one.The high-octane SON was on his way abroad to give momentum to the struggle for justice and freedom that he rightly trowed in.Some stand to gain over BB's demise especially?Na who them? Some will slumber now with both eyes covered. Our Liberation Big Noise have invariably been wanted death, but how and under what circumstances was of the essence.Late will now be appended on their names ,but their works will be a source of inspiration for generations.Sleep NICE comrades. The Struggle continues......

I am in total shock. I don't know where to start.
May the Almighty God receive your souls in Perfect Peace.

Dr BB you are an inspiration to me personally. My seven years in lycee molyko would not have been complete without people of your caliber. You were not my teacher because I was a science student, but in you I learned how to stick to the TRUTH. You were not the type who was interested in appoitments nor material things nor messing around with female students.

I remeber when the evil regime was delaying with your integration into the public service because of your critical writings. They even sent agents to try to persuade you to stop writing against the regime so that your integration should be process. But being who you are, you told them to take their integration away and you will continue exposing their ills because you don't live in falseood. I remember the issues with the then principal Mr Ekwa Adolf.

As I am writing now, I get this image of you infront of me: that famous "pinna 4 jeans", sandals with red socks, and your "bamenda bag".

Dr BB, your legacy will live forever. You lived your life by the TRUTH and nothing else.

Goodbye Sir.

Manga

Vally,

Since BB's death was announced, I have been unable to write anything on this forum; and the tears have been flowing endlessly. But one line in your posting made me laugh through the fog pain. You wrote: "As I am writing now, I get this image of you infront of me: that famous "pinna 4 jeans", sandals with red socks, and your "bamenda bag"." Yes, I too remember that image from the good old day. And as I engrave it into my mind, something tells me that everything will be OK; that BB's "army of orphans" scattered around the world will make him proud and keep the flame burning

DaDiceman

No mention of BB's death yet in what I understand is the No.1 Francophone Cameroun website (in terms of popularity): http://www.cameroon-info.net/......check it out! Can it really be the case that BB's work did not cross over to La Republique du Cameroun? If so, it is their loss.

It is at times like this that one realises, if proof were needed, that there is indeed such a thing as Southern Cameroon, a separate nation, already in existence in all but name. I don't think there are too many English-speaking Cameroonians whom this tragedy hasn't touched, from the grassfields of the Northwest Province to the beaches of Victoria. However, it seems our Francophone "brothers" are totally oblivious of this.

Manga

DaDiceman, neither Le Messager, La Nouvelle Expression or Quotidient Mutations carried even a footnote on the death of BB and Co. If anything, it shows that Cameroon will always be two separate societies; the heroes of one society rarely translate into heroes on the other side. It reminds me of the death of the legendary Prof. Gabriel Nlep on that same stretch of road in April 2003. While La Republique literarily went into national mourning, nary a ripple was heard West of the Mungo.

Apart from university dons like Ambroise Kom, Gilbert Doho, and Francophone writers like Patrice Nganang, very few Francophone "intellectuals" much less the homme de la rue talked about, much less knew about BB.

"But nothing spoil". BB did not need their validation to be what he was; the accolades on this and other internet forums is validation enough. BB for ever!!!

Ma Mary

BB's lasting value is not just erudition or bookiness alone, but the combination with an upright moral character in very trying circumstances. He also loved all his African people regardless of ethnicity. In so doing, he has inspired thousands of young people to have the courage to live by their ideals. Therefore, there is hope. When it is time to rebuild, the right people shall be there.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
However, we owe them a duty to find out the real cause of their death. One of the following three things could be the cause of their death:
1.The Gov`t could be behind this assasination since BB was a straight forward man and the Gov`t junta don`t like such people.
2.It could be the juju planted in UB that is at work. How many UB lecturers have died in road accidents?
3.It could be a natural cause and divine calling.
Gentlemen, let`s find out the real cause of this massacre. If the Gov`t has a hand in it then those in Gov`t should be made to pay for this by burying these guys with a powerful juju to hunt their killers later on.I know religious fanatics will not buy my idea but remember, our african religions existed before some of the western religions. If it is the juju in UB at work, ALL UB LECTURERS SHOULD RESIGN IMEDIATELY if those who planted the juju can`t remove it.If the lecturers have ears let them hear.
If it is a natural cause because of the narrow roads in cameroon, then we wish all those in govt who have a role to expand this road TO ALSO DIE SAME ON THIS ROAD.When they die on this same road, their successors will be afraid to die also and they will expand the road. After all, BB is more than all the monies they need to expand this road. The 3 intellectuals gone have gone with human resource that is worth the budget of cameroon.
THE FIGHT IS ON.ALL LECTURERS PUT ON YOUR ARMOUR.ALL THOSE WHO WANT A CHANGE FOR CAMEROON SHOULD KEEP FEAR ASIDE AND ACT NOW.

UB AGAIN!!!

Another Strong Educational Giant has fallen BB, Ambe, Kwasen and Tabe are all gone what a great lose to the university community and African Educational Poetry as a whole. Can this be attributed to the rumor spreading around that there is a strong demonic alter planted at the middle of the university campus?? A question left for the authorities concern to answer UB needs serious spiritual cleansing that will wash away all the devilish items planted there. While we say may the souls of BB and rest, rest in perfect peace we wish to extend our heart felt sympathy to the bereaved family.

ANNALS OF THE UB OF MBAMBA

WHERE NECESSARY, THIS PAPER SHALL NAME NAMES. BUT IN GENERAL INITIALS SHALL BE USED . LET THOSE ALERT MINDS PUT TOGETHER THE PIECES. NOBODY SHOULD SAY I SET FLAMES ON THE FORUM. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. PRECIOUS LIVES ARE BEING WASTED AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE...MBAMBA,S ENTRAILS ARE NOT CLEAN AS THE EVENTS BELOW SHALL REVEAL.IF YOU IDENTIFY ANY PART THAT IS MISSING FROM THIS REVELATION, PLEASE DO WELL TO COMMENT. THIS REPORT SHALL BE PRESENTED IN SEQUENCES..IT IS LENGTHY AND SHALL BE TAKEN ONE PIECE AT A TIME.

IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

1993-1994

When the first matriculation took place, it was joy all over Buea and in English Cameroon. The long awaited pearl was finally here. But demonic communion was brought in as well. In broad daylight, an esoteric privy of chiefs and notables encircled the first round about you shall meet as as you enter the gates of UB and buried alive a cat, dog and other elements. Thus UB,s Mephistophelian Mbamba set the stage for Wizadry to thrive amuck on Campus, and 14 years after, and on an annual basis the fated Faustuses have continually paid the prize with the valued blood that keeps them living.

Early one Saturday morning in late 1993, UB lost its first student. He lived in a house along malingo street. He had put his pot of beans to cook and stretched himself on his bed to relax after his saturday lectures. And he never got up from that sleep. He should be skeleton, skull and bones now in his father,s yard in Kumba. Till date no one knows what caused the death of kenneth. We were all mates in Lycee molyke, taught by BB and moved to UB.

Life continued and before long people got over the shock of this loss. A yearning for relaxation far away from Buea was rife in the air and that pretty girl whose father is a prosperous enterpreneur in Bamenda decided to take her friends out for a beach party in Limbe. The waters were gentle, and its true she couldnt swim. But the waters were shallow enough to be safe as any bath tub can be.That birth day party along the Mile 6 Beach in Limbe turned into a tragedy as UB registered its second death within one year of its creation.

Who dared reason why things happened that way? No one...we were all young and naive..we forgot too quickly that an alter had been built for the Devil on campus, and that whenever he yearns for a taste of blood, UB shall be its target.

21st MAY 1994

After UB students took part in their 2nd national Day Celebrations, the Students Union organized a gala night at the Restaurant Building Complex. That night I missed my Vice President of the Student as he had been to Kumba after 20th May activities. Conscious of his role in that gala, he boared a bus for Buea. Ebai V. never made it to Buea. He was involved in a ghastly road accident and died at the Kumba hospital. We received the news on the 21st of May 1994 and arrangements were made to " lay him in the faculty of Arts Lobby". Getting the VC to accept the laying in state of the former VP of the students union was problematic because the 1st strike was formented under the regime of Ebai V .

AGBORTAH .A M

With the approval of the VC a delegation was constituted to convey the remains of Ebai to his Native Ossing Village. A Suzuki jeep and double cabin Toyota Stout were put at the disposal of the head of delegation DR K.I.T assited by the then Faculty officer Miss E. Lydia.
On the return trip the Toyota had an accident just after it crossed the fear-inspiring fly over bridge over the Kupe Mountain. Nobody died, but several were severly wounded including Agbortah, Miss Lydia and others…..

This is just the beginning of a long Story……..I shall keep you updated

Katakata,
You have pushed me to vividly recall how Ebai Valentine died; he was killed by an army jeep on its way to Bakassi; at the time, the Bakassi crisis was at the peak.
The list of students who died within that period is long. There is also Forbong Benard who left a shocking will before he died.

CASARA

Hey Katakata,
You may be right in a sense. All the way from Yaounde when i was an unfortunate anglofool student there,i thought of the deaths in that light. But it's a situation where it's difficult to say if it's mystry or coincidence. It could still be coincidence or mystry.God alone knows what's going on in Buea.
I still can't believe these four brave warriors passed away like that. Some thing most be wrong some where. Are we being punished by the almighty or it's only a test to see how faithful we are to him? Some one tell me.
These is how i look at the death,French plot to kill all anglophones of important status. They've killled productive journalists,Students, business men,Productive corporations,Schools, recreation centers, etc etc.
God help us,save us from the wrath of these frogs called La Republic.

ANNALS OF THE UB OF MBAMBA II

A BRILLIANT STUDENT OF LAW SILENCED

After that accident, the students involved realised with shock that the administration of Mbamba was more concerned with putting together reports that would incriminate the then Director of Student,s affairs, and make him pay for the damaged Toyota Stout. The life of the students was hardly important. Then AGBORTAH took upon himself to file a suit against the UB administration over non payment of insurance dues for injuries sustained. This brilliant "ma belle no bi store" legal student had roots as well in the legal domain. He received support and great ideas from his seniors and this caused the UB administration a lot of uneasiness. If the case went to court and Agbortah won, then Mbamba and her UB will be liable to paying fabulous sums to the students involved..So the "jabu pot" was heated up for potency and some days before the summer break of 1995 Agbortah took seriously ill.

PICTURES DONT TELL LIES
If you walk into the lobby of the Central administration, just cast your eyes to the right, and you shall see a Notice board framed with glass. Inside that frame are pictures of the different burial ceremonies that the University sponsored. I wonder if they are still there, but just venture and give it a look.I was sitting at home , in molyko one afternoon when a female student came looking for me. She informed me of Agbortah,s sickness. Then told me something about those pictures that caused me to shudder. She asked me if I was superstitious, and I told her I believe witchcraft exists . Then she said she feared for Agbortah,s life. When asked why, she requested I accompany her to the Notice board and take a look at some of the pictures, and when I did , I saw there was a pattern about the deaths..It was a death row...as if the victims were answering PRESENT to some kind of witch call to their death.

Picture this scenario in your mind: A coffin is always carried by 4 persons. Two infront and two behind . From the 1st picture, we see Ebai V representing the University at the burial of kenneth. He was standing and holding the coffin from the Front right . And they marched to the grave. Some brief months later Ebai died in that accident Fon referred to.

At Ebai,s burial, Agbortah as seen from the picture was on that notice board was holding the coffin from in second postion from the rear right. Katakata was holding the coffin from second postion in the rear left..and they marched Ebai to an early grave, taking along with him all that humour he will give free during his "kenyang 101" lectures. It was this same Ebai who taught the student body to CHOCHOLIZE the cho cho lo za hymn.

The girl in question gave her own interpretaion of the picture scenario, that since death seemed to be following a pattern defined by who occupied what position at student burials, then she feared for Agbortah,s life. I told her I wasnt superstitious, but thanked her for stretching my imagination .

Some days later, I boarded a taxi from Great soppo and headed for Mile 17 where I will get a bus for Kumba. Just after the Omnisport Stadium, I saw Agbortah moving around in superb form. I got out of the taxi and had a chat with him, and he assured me we shall meet in 2 days in Mamfe. There was nothing about his condition to evoke fear of harm befalling him.

Two days after I learnt agbortah was somewhere in Upper banyang subdivision receiving treatment as his condition had worsened. The next day I learnt he was DEAD!!!! Then those words echoed in my ears " are you superstitious?" I decided NOT to attend that funeral. I left mamfe and returned to Buea on the day the corspe was brought to town. I rushed to Campus and gave those pictures a critical look....YES, there was a pattern to these deaths ..Agbortah occupied the 2nd position on the right at Ebai,s burial, and he was gone to join him. Katakata occupied the 2nd postion on the left and wasnt ready to get himself positioned on the chess board of witches. katakata is not dead, he is alive, but no one knows if he would be next victim if he attended the funeral that would prepare him for his own funeral.

Today, many years after, Teachers have been dying and it is also wise to look at the pattern of the deaths..Big heads are rolling..Nama, Endeley, BB, Njiki, Eyoh who ironically dubbed UB as the Place to Be and helped in writing a hymn for UB.

This might be pure coincidence, but then the possibility of the netherworld at work is undisputed.

Coming on Next shall be the suggestions by hierarchy , and by hierarchy I mean Mbamba, to institute cults into UB under the guidance of Makongo...wherever he is katakata CHALLENGES N.MAKONGO to deny the plan given him by hierarchy to put in place, together with other "blacklegs" a movement dubbed UBRIF.......

Katakata,

Your right-up makes sence to me, having lost a course mate Forbong Benard at UB. Irrespective of what caused the accident that killed BB,Kwansen,Hilarious and Awoh recently, UB needs cleansing (whether spiritual or otherwise). BB was someone whose "stomach was not a store". Such people living in a country/institution where many people have many things to hide are always targets.I know this will mislead some people in drawing conclusions which MAY not be true. We should try to balance this up by also making inquiries/contributions on how the accident happened. I am yet to hear or read about the accident (the immediate cause of the deaths).

Drs Besong, Ambe, Mr Ngwangwa and Awoh, may your souls rest in perfect peace.

Akoson

Katakata,

If I'm a court judge, however how discriminating I may be against Mbamba I wouldn't sentence her despite all your allegations above. I mean they're not too powerful to nail her. Your arguments may be convincing from first sight, though.

Anyway let me not be too hasty about concluding since you've got the sequence of events.

Waiting!

The anxious Son.

Katakata,
Thanks so much for the notes from your encyclopedia. I am of the opinion that most of these happenings in UB are not natural. Please do give us the remaining versions of the events till date, these will be good stuff to compile for a gospel on the need for cleansing. I am a born again child of God and I know the DEVIL never gives or does anything for free. There is always a price to pay. Whatever Mbamba and her team did, is now taking away lives of others, and never the indigenes from their area. May they eat their flesh and be drunk from their own blood, in the mighty name of JESUS. Let the host of heavenly angels fight for the innocent ones in UB henceforth.
Katakata, more grease to your elbows.
SHALOM!!!

katakata

maskva,
You shall indeed have more from my encyclopedia.

Just be patient until I get through something I am preparing this thursday. You shall have your UBRIF story latest Friday, and am sure N.M DAVID would shudder when he reads it...

ANNALS OF THE UB OF MBAMBA III

UB RAPID INTERVENTION FORCE (UBRIF)

Late Ndeley has always been a lucky man. Just a week after his Volvo car was set ablaze along the varsity street, he was confronted with yet another hurdle. He had to do the 800m race for life which started from the open air amphi , then across the football field . Then an obstacle. --Ndongo water..Like Moses, he stretched out his rod and split the water into two, and ran across the puddled water. He was lucky again to see an open door and walked into it.

When the mad horde of students arrived "quartier ndongo" thirstying for his blood, they were informed by N. Makongo and Katakata that the Registrar had gotten into a taxi and zoomed off.It was a saturday.

Before this incident, the students were on a strike because of the PFA (Parent-Faculty-Association) fee which was forcefully instituted without consultaion with parents.

These protests didnt augur well with the UB administration which was supposed to host the Solemn Opening of Universities that year to be presided over by the then high handed Minister of Higher Education who calls himself a chief. Chiefs as far as I know take good care of their subjects, so I doubt what makes him refer to himself as chief, when he lacks the warmth of "chiefs". Better they call themselves thieves, not chiefs.

So, during these strikes, katakata returned home to find an envelop slipped under his door. The message was brief and urgent, with 3 exclamation signs!!!. It was signed N.Makongo telling katakata that this was his 3rd visit and now he is dropping a note.

The message in the note said :

" meet me at the drinking spot just before entrance to street one, Great Soppo..this evening" !!!

There was nothing to fear because makongo is someone I know very well, but I had to be cautious. So I told my girl friend to precede me to the bar, and wait for me. She wasnt supposed to let Makongo and co to suspect I planted her there as my witness in case of any unpleasant surprises.

When I arrived , all the actors were there. I walked with relief to Makongo,s table and asked him what the urgency was all about. We drank some beer, talked about the disturbances going on, and then Makongo revealed the agenda of the meeting.

His preamble was this " Katakata, we of the South west cannot allow the North Westerners to destroy our University. They are the ones causing all these strikes to discredit mbamba, and cause the University to be shut down. No we cant accept that."

Then he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out a stack of 5000 CFA notes, and a mini voice-activated recorder, and after showing these to the other 2 guys and myself, he declared: " Mbamba gave me all this money..and I am just coming from Tiko where I bought this powerful recorder..all the beer we are drinking is paid by her..she has promised to make life very easy for us all if we will accept to be the nucleus of a small group that will discretly report other students to her. That is why we need recorders to tape the declarations of subversive students..she will pay us..So I am requesting all of you here to tell me whether you are with Mbamba,s idea or not" You shall each need a tape recorder too. In my mind I was already thinking about a time when we shall need guns to protect ourselves from students wrath..God Forbid

I told him I was in, but deep in me, I knew I could never do something like that. When my eyes met those of my girl friend, she winked at me to leave their company. So we parted company with promises of consolidating the group which Makongo said would be called UBRIF....UNIVERSITY OF BUEA RAPID INTERVENTION FORCE.

I left with 5000cfa as my motivation package, all from Mbamba, and Makongo made remarks in an expenditure sheet he kept so to make an accounting how he used the funds.

When I got home, my girl friend asked if I meant what I said at the bar. I told her NO! and she pulled my ears NEVER to meet them again as they migh set me up and get me lynched by the student body......

So on the day Ndeley did the race for life, Makongo was also present at Quartier Ndongo with the student body..when someone noticed he had a recorder on him, he was almost lynched.....I intervened and destroyed the spool in the recorder, and Makongo escaped lynching..

NJIE MAKONGO DAVID.. whereever you are now, you should know from all these description the person behind the pseudo KATAKATA....I challenge you once again to say these words written here are lies..and I will give you more.

That was the UBRIF story, and I wish to tell all that these revelations are not meant to judge or indict mbamba..No court in cameroon has ever opened a case file on witchcraft and wizadry claims. This is for information purpose only, because the more calamities befall people I love and respect, people who have contributed a lot to UB, I start telling myself that if people knew what has been going on in there, perhaps they would have been more cautious with their lives..cautious with their choice of friends, cautious about what information they give out about their movements.

If the Cap fits you, WEAR it by all means....

ANNALS OF THE UB OF MBAMBA IV..

Dear Akoson, the son, welcome back.

It is nice to know that in today,s politically fragmented society , people would still agree to disagree. True we dont share the same political opinions.I can even say I dont back up this or that school of thought when it comes to
politics..Nonetheless, I have a religious opinion which to a greater extent shapes my moral thinking and moves me to decry social injustices, and at same time appeal to those who hold the yam and knife to share it evenly.I dont preach dissention , hate and backstabbing. I preach LOVE.

Now I would address the issue that set Dr. T.I.K and Mbamba at daggers drawn . Our society is supposed to be founded on moral justice , truth and duty to serve the state. Thus when basic tenets like "give to caesar his due " are not respected, there is bound to be a cause for a strain in the chords that bind the societal fabric we find ourselves in. and in the prophetic words of Achebe, the Center would no Longer Hold when things Fall apart

Imagine for one moment that what you suffered to get was given to someone else. How would you feel? Happy? Not all.
When the decree creating UB was signed, I was in UNIYAO strolling from one Amphi to the other. Then I was transferred to UB to get anglosaxone type education, and there I was privileged to see some of the most rotten practices I dont wish to see again.

At that time, the administrative machinery of UB was being greased and put in place for a smooth take-off of academic activities. To this effect, Dr. T.I.K was sent to GB to do some administrative studies and return as the First Registrar of UB.Upon his arrival, he was told to content himself with the post of DSA. So what had happened to the position he was supposed to occupy? It had been given to the late swift-legged Ngandjo who NEVER received any training for the post. This was a slap in the face of T.I.K , but for the sake of peace, he didnt raise any brawl over it: who would even listen to him if he did? So he continued doing his job as DSA, and teaching African Literature with his high profiled lectures that endeared him to all students.

Then came the 1st strike, which the administration of Mbamba and Habby couldnt contain. When the DSA used his popularity among the students to mediate for the administration, he was immediately brandished in top circles as the hidden hand behind the strike action. Infact he was accused of using the students for political motives. This was very disheartening.Since then mbamba had been looking for means to pin him down and get him sanctioned to no avail. But as the Devil never sleeps when people are happy, Mbamba soon got the opportunity to strike back..strike back at someone who had done nothing to merit her vindictive excesses that knew no bounds.

It was the accident in which a UB Toyota Stout returning from Mamfe was destroyed. T.I.K was head of delegation, and mbamba wanted to make him responsible for the accident and PAY for the repairs of that vehicle..and this was an official mission. The students involved in that accident were asked to write a collective report and present to the VC on the cause of the accident. Mbamba wasnt convinced by what she read, and took it to the then faculty of arts Officer, Ms.E .Lydia. She in turn said there was just one person who could tell the truth, and she didnt find the signature of that student on the collective report.

Immediately, that student was served a querry by Mbamba, accusing him of refusing to write a report on the accident. He was given until the next day to submit the report. In his naivety , he went through every detail of the journey from Mamfe to the point where the accident happened, not conscious that every truth he told nailed down the DSA. But it wasnt the DSA sitting at the wheel. He was in a Suzuki jeep and the accident happened behind him. with two contrasting reports before her, she easily concluded that the DSA engineered the collective report to shield himself. Whether he finally paid for the repairs of that vehicle is what I cant tell. But what I know is that The DSA temporarily packed out of his office, as he was a man of vision. He didnt want to hear a decree saying he should quit office. He did it before any such decree could come. After sometime he returned to his ofice and continued serving the students who missed him so much.

For those of you who reside in Buea, I give you this assignment. Try to probe the veracity of these comments. First, I would like you to see barrister Tangunyi . I dont know if he still has his chambers at Great Soppo. When you meet him, just say you wish to meet his junior brother Samuel.

Tangunyi Samuel was an auxilliary worker doing his test recruitment service at UB. Just 2 weeks into his service, Mbamba summarily dismissed him from the ranks of the recruited workers undergoing a test period which could last till 3 months before a definitive employment.

The reasons for that dismissal shall constitute part V of the ANNALS OF THE UB OF MBAMBA.

Meanwhile, you are welcome to ask specific questions that would further be discussed under this blog.

Have a wonderful Monday morning, and remain positive.

Your dutiful Surgeon,

KATAKATA
