Mount Cameroon FC of Buea picked a sweet victory over visiting Sahel Club of Maroua, Sunday, March 11, at the Molyko Sports Stadium.
The Lava Boys of Buea overpowered the visitors in a 2-0 thrashing.Though the home side took off in a lacklustre manner, the boys of Etienne Sonkeng, quickly realised themselves and came into the match before the close of the first half.
The opener for Mount Cameroon came at the 40th minute when offensive midfielder, Eyong Anderson netted for his team during a goalmouth tussle. Mount Cameroon played with some style, to the pleasure of their fans. At the close of the first half, it was Mount Cameroon on the lead.
The second segment of the match opened on a super note for the Lava Boys. At the 46th minute of play, Mount Cameroon FC's captain and striker, Julius Agbor Tarkang, increased tally for his team, poaching in the second goal by dodging the offside position. With Mount Cameroon on the lead, the Lava Boys played the rest of the game with confidence.
Despite attempts by the football training school from Maroua to equalise, the watertight defence of Mount Cameroon stopped all their onslaughts with keeper, Djoudjou, having a great day to himself.
With Sunday's victory, Mount Cameroon is looking forward, with a lot of excitement to the Day 6 encounter, against a stubborn Cotonsport of Garoua come Wednesday, March 14 still at the Molyko Sports Stadium.
