The doors of Parliament have been banged in the face of six of the nine outgoing CPDM Douala MPs.
This came with the final publication last weekend of the list of CPDM Parliamentary candidates for the July twin elections. The six include: Retired Colonel, Edouard Etonde Ekoto (former Government Delegate to the Douala Urban Council), Armande Din Bell (Wouri 1 WCPDM Section President, and Henri Ntone (Mayor of Douala 1).
These three are all of Wouri Centre legislative constituency (Douala 1 Subdivision/Manoka District). The other three outgoing MPs are Maurice Bilong, (Douala 1V) Isaac Ngahanne and Missi, both from Douala III and V Subdivisions.
Etonde Ekoto, who is presently standing trial for alleged embezzlement at the Douala Ports Authority, PAD, did not stand at the primaries. The other five MPs all went in for the primaries and lost. Their dreams of being part of the next legislature were still lingering as they had all filed petitions to the party hierarchy against the results.

They had all expected the party hierarchy to annul the results or rule in their favour. So, their names not appearing in the CPDM Parliamentary list came as a real nightmare.
Commenting on the prevailing atmosphere in the CPDM in Douala, following the primaries and the rejection of all the petitions of the losers, some militants have expressed fears that if the party hierarchy does not do something fast to reconcile the winners and losers of the primaries, the party might lose some votes at the July elections.
Meanwhile, Françoise Foning, Abel Calvin Njoke and Joseph Hyacinth Kono Owona have the chance of featuring in the next legislature as they will run on the party's ticket.
