Cotonsport of Garoua recently regained leadership of the 2007 MTN National Division I Championship by denting the hope of rivals, Union Spotif of Douala by a 1-0 spanking.
The cotton pluckers from the North now top the chart after day 22 actions with 44 points, one above runners up, Union of Douala and Mount Cameroon FC of Buea, who stooped to Sahel of Maroua 0-1 on Sunday.
Cotonsport that have been leaders for the 6th uninterrupted year have climbed back on the leadership rail.The lone elite soccer team in the National Division I league West of the Mungo, Mount Cameroon's dream of topping the table for the first time in Anglophone history suffered a setback.
The Anglophone flag bearers, with 14 playing days still left, are bound to pick a ticket for intercontinental competition com next football season.The Lavaboys, will battle it out with rivals, Contonsport in a day 23 do or die encounter in Garoua in tussle for leadership.
But Mount Cameroon now stands in an advantaged position since Union lost to Sahel of Maroua 0-1 in an advanced match played on Wednesday, July 18. Meanwhile, in another advanced match, Federal de Noun beat Esperance of Guider by 2-0.
Placed at the bottom of the table is newly promoted CPSA of Bertoua, who have only managed to draw 6 games after 22 playing days. CPSA have registered 16 defeats and conceded 33 goals this season.
The greenhorns from Bertoua are closely followed by Sahel of Maroua, AS CETEF of Douala, Federal of Noun and Sable of Batie in the 17th, 16th, 15th and 14th positions respectively.
After day 21, Julius Agbor Tarkang of Mount Cameroon FC, who before the second round left the country for greener pastures is still leading the chart with 9 goals followed Emile Mouyong Ndong of Foudre of Akonolinga. Elvis Mokake and Tarkang Frankline both from Mount Cameroon FC trail them with 7 goals.
