The Social Democratic Front, SDF, has been promised 217 million as campaign money for upcoming municipal and legislative elections, the Secretary General of the party, Dr. Elizabeth Tamanjong announced to journalists on Wednesday, July 4.
According to the Secretary General, FCFA 108 million and FCFA 109 million are allotted to Council and Legislative elections in that order. Each council is expected to get FCFA 800,000. But Dr. Tamanjong said the money is yet to be transferred into the SDF accounts.
Dr. Tamanjong dismissed as false a report by a local tabloid, "West Echos" that the party had received FCFA three billion for the purpose. She said the information was coming from detractors who want to sully the image of the party. Dr. Tamanjong recalled that during the 2004 Presidential election, the government promised FCFA 400 million but ended up giving a paltry FCFA 46 million.

SDF Councillor Assassinated
An SDF councillor of Yaounde III, Gerald Bessala, was assassinated on Tuesday, July 3. Bessala who was part of the commission charged with distributing voters' cards was found lying in a pool of his own blood.
Three of Bessala's suspected assailants have been apprehended and are currently in gendarme custody in Yaounde. He had allegedly resigned from the CPDM party before joining the SDF. Meanwhile, the SDF has asked the Minister of Justice to investigate the matter.
Money remains the very reason why political parties are willing to take part in elections in La Republuque Du Cameroun no matter the poor electoral process.
None of you can afford to stay away from this profitable business called POLITICS in Cameroun.

So long as the so call opposition parties depend on the ruling government for monies to run their campagns and contest for electoral office, tney should forget about taking over power in near and far future. What we are experiencing is benevolent despotizm.
