Cameroon's bilingualism suffered a severe setback on Friday, February 1, when French dominated an occasion to promote communication in both official languages.
The occasion was the celebration of official bilingualism in Cameroon presided at by Haman Adama, Minister of Basic Education.Although she spoke last, Haman Adama seemed to give her blessing to previous speeches by mentioning a few words of English in a predominantly French address.
Her only English words were spoken in appreciation of the occasion which she said was very well organised. In her speech, she said bilingualism is an important tool of unity and national interrogation upheld by President Biya. Proof of this was that bilingual secondary schools and linguistic centres had been opened in all parts of the country.
She sang praises of the Northwest Province, saying it had a very high rate of standard evident from the good performance in the First School Leaving Certificate and other public examinations.
The Minister told education authorities in the Province to count on government support. She recommended agriculture, physical education and morality in our schools.Haman called on parents to collaborate with school authorities in the upbringing of their children.
Speaking earlier, the Mayor of Njinikom, Jonathan Sobo, said the only bilingual primary school in Fundong had no French teacher. He also raised the problem of poor infrastructure in schools within his council area and called on the Minister to do all in her power to ensure that one of the prestigious primary schools built in other parts of the country comes to Fundong
Christopher Boma, Northwest Basic Education Delegate, gave statistics on the number of nursery and secondary schools in the Province and praised the Minister for her support, especially to the children in Bawock, Oku and Mbessa, who suffered because of the ethnic crises that rocked them.
He, however, complained of insufficient logistics in Northwest schools, calling on the Minister to come to the rescue of Basic Education in the Northwest. The Minister later visited Saint Anthony Secondary School, one of the oldest in the Province that produced most of the Northwest politicians and elite of repute who contributed immensely towards reunification.
My Fellow Southern Cameroonians,
You do not need any bilingualism.
You do not need any French.
And, please please stop begging the Frogs to learn English.
They are neglecting English at their own peril.
The smart Frogs know this.
Even the French know this.
FRENCH is DEAD.
In 100 years from today, French will be like LATIN today.
DEAD!!!!
Even the French themselves know it. L'Academie Francaise now publishes officially in English.
Yes, the imperialistic chauvinists of the Academie Francaie are aware of the impending doom. The demise of "La Langue de Voltaire".
So my dear Southern Cameroonians, stop being distracted with this bilingualism nonsense.
Concentrate you efforts on decolonizing your country The Southern Cameroons.
As a free people you will not have to worry about this anymore beacuse the FROGS would be gone.
So "TO ARMS" my dear people.
Kick the Frogs out of your country.
A+

Paa Ngembus,
ur comments reflects that of a stupid boy. i even realise that u do not serve the course of ur dear `SOUTHERN CAMEROON'.
u seem to advocate for bloodshed amongst cameroonians. do u think that u can achieve a better future by violence?
Allow young cameroonians to learn both English and French and why not other official languages.
If u do not want to learn, remain with ur pidgin english-the only language u seem to master very well.

These are the desperate acts of a dying oppressor. The French agenda was to asphyxiate the English language and non-french thinking from the Southern Cameroons in 40 years. That plan has failed, thanks in part to the world dominance of English, and in part to the good sense of the Southern Cameroonians. Some have the mistaken impression that Southern Cameroonians will be docile and complicit in their own extinction. Dream on mofos. They are now rushing the agenda of annihilation. Do you think, that this is a mistake? Having failed in mental and cultural annexation, the next item will be outright genocide. The frogs have the thickest dossier of genocide in Africa. There are still a few sleeping Southern Cameroonians. WAKE UP! OK, sleep if you want.
It has not worked and Odysseus is back to reclaim his house from the whore mongers, thieves and free loaders who have been eating his food, drinking his wine and bothering his family. The advice to the thieves is simple. RUN.

Vextoj,
Very often the radical in me wants me to ignore IDIOTS like you especially when they are spilling such ignorance as you just displayed, but the teacher in me says I should persevere and EDUCATE THE FOOL.
Like I told you earlier:
FRENCH IS DEAD.
Please stop wasting your time with this useless language. Even the French have resigned themselves to this faith, so stop wasting your time MA BOY.
AAother piece of advice, go back and reread the history of The Southern Cameroons before you die in anguish and ignorant denial.
The Federal Republic of Cameroon is DEAD.
La Republique Colonie Francaise du Cameroun left the union in 1984 and tried to forcefully colonize The Southern Cameroons.
Their time is up. We shall boot the jerks from La Republique out of our country by force if they don't leave willingly.
As for little buffoons like you, don't worry, WE SHALL DRAG YOU KICKING AND SCREAMING TO A FREE SOUTHERN CAMEROONS.
If you don't like freedom, we will allow you to return to your rathole in La Republique.

Hello Forumnites ill health put me out for sometime now but I am a bit relief and strong enough to give my opinion once more.Have a good day all.
Ma Mary and Paa Ngembus,
I am impressed of your view points. It is to late to tell the French speakers to go back to school. All the ministers are suffering the pangs of 'no knowledge' of English language.if Biya himself has never 'bothered' to study how can he appoint ministers in terms of bilingualism.
Yet he delegates them on a mission which needs English language like 'Bilingualism Day'.This is ridiculous eventhough there are Anglophone teachers and professors who can speak good English to represent these ministers to help them make speeches in English.

The Minister was foraying maybe to test the waters.every one knows LRC is a French Republic and all this flapdoodle of Bilingualism by these rancid putrid colonialist is a joke.Their Illegal and forcible presence in our Homeland is all that is wanted. It MUST be deodorise hell for leather with careful and strategic organisation.

Fritzane, you are mistaken in assuming that it is mere bumbling error. The propensity to assimilate is hard wired into French culture almost like a religion. It is fed into them with mother's milk, and inculcated from infants one. Fritzane, this is deliberate, do not delude yourself.
They cannot help themselves, and they are forever trying to test how far they can force feed us with their assimilationist, colonialist poison. And, Southern Cameroonians, rendered soporific with alcohol and distracted by rubbish entertainments and weakened by an externally-imposed poverty, often do not notice these attempts to finalize the agenda of assimilation/colonization.
But it is too late.
