The Etoug-Ebe Presbyterian Church building function is such a wonderful, extra-ordinary, and everlasting project. If I am not mistaking, this building function must have taken almost a decade with regards to when it was officially launched. How long should such a wonderful and everlasting church building last, if either it can be compared to that of the world trade centre, or to the Roman Catholic Cathedral (Basilica) at Rome. I presume there is something actually going wrong with the team in charge with the responsibility of managing the project. Even though we understand that the construction of this church is such a big project and warrants such a huge financial support, it is equally important for us to reflect that its architects are not very prudent and efficient in managing the project. This project has been ongoing for the past 10 years. It needs a much more committed people of God to be at the forefront of the project. The level of corruption and misnagement in Cameroon needs to be properly checked. Senior congregational members as they call them selves are not free from the corruption syndrom.I think the congregational members of the said church can bear in mind the point I am trying to raise. The building function should no longer be an arena for people to exercise their egotistical desires. The House of God needs to be controlled by God Fearing people, people who put God first in every venture in their lives. We do not want the church house to be controlled by big names from the government circles. We are seek and tired of such kind of unscrupulous and egocentric individuals, people who don't seek the interest of their community.
The point I am raising here is that, either the management of the entire project is unable to cope with the pressure and demands of the project, or there is high level unaccountability on the part of those concened with the management. There must be an auditing team to check the progress of the work from time to time, and to ensure a smooth running of the budget for the standing project. This auditing team should not be in any way having the slightest contact with the management. It should also be comprised of a set of transparent and honest individuals who in any case should not be far from being experts in the domain.
Briefly, its our greatest desire to realise this project and to see into it that we have a comfortable house of worship. This can only be done if people who are involved in the construction are God fearing, honest, accountable, transparent, void of mismanagemnt practices, corruption and embezzlement and other vices which might be detrimental to the realisation of the final phase of the project.
