A boy called Mathias Ewungwa, 18, reportedly stabbed one Herman Nimbah Ndakwah, 20, to death.
The boys were reportedly fighting over a 16-year-old girl (names withheld) on Wednesday, October 7.As the story goes, Ewungwa was fighting with his purported girlfriend in Middle Costain Tiko.
The girl, after receiving slaps from Ewungwa, is said to have called Nimbah who resides around the Tiko Council area, on phone to come and retaliate.Nimbah reportedly arrived at the scene and picked up a fight with Ewungwa.
After overwhelming Ewungwa, Nimbah reportedly got hold the girl and took her along.
Beaten, Ewungwa rushed home and brought a cutlass. He trailed the duo and hacked Nimbah on his clavicle from behind.
Surprised, Nimbah reportedly ran a short distance, while bleeding profusely, and dropped dead.After the assault, Ewungwa went back to their house and locked himself up, watching TV, The Post garnered.
An angry mob that was allegedly anxious to lynch Ewungwa, surrounded the house and threatened to set it ablaze if he didn't surrender himself to them.It was thanks to police intervention that Ewungwa escaped death. He was arrested together with the girl and taken to the police station.
The Post gathered that because the SCNC issue was still hot in Tiko that night and given the tempers that were flaring from the crowd, the police feared that they could break the prison cell and lynch Ewungwa.
They decided to transfer the duo to the Buea waiting trial.The Post also learnt that Ewungwa's parents were at large.The victim's father, George Ndakwah, told this reporter that he was already asleep on that fateful day and was awakened by a phone call at about 8.30 pm that his son had been knifed.
"After receiving the phone call, I became confused then suddenly, the Commissioner of Police, Pascal Andi, came and took me to the scene. There, I saw him lying in a pool of blood," said Ndakwah.
He said Nimbah was the first of his four children.By press time, Nimbah's mortal remains were lying at the Tiko Hospital mortuary, pending removal on Friday, October 17.Burial would take place the following day in their Njah-Etu village in Momo Division, Northwest Province.
Corpse Found Behind Hospital
In another story, the corpse of an aged man was found lying behind the Tiko District Hospital.The man whose only name we got as Pa Ndip, is said to be a retired CDC rubber tapper in Tiko.
The Post learnt that the man's dwelling and family members were not known.It is alleged that Pa Ndip had been suffering from hernia and was admitted in the hospital.His corpse was preserved in the mortuary in the hope that his family members may show up.
