It is now clear that members of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, will take oath of office on Thursday, January 29. The Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court, January 26, rejected a petition the SDF party filed, challenging the swearing-in of the ELECAM members that President Biya appointed last December 30.
Ejake Mbonda (ELECAM Member) being decorated Tuesday, January 27, as Commander of the Order of Valour by MINATD Boss. How neutral can such a kingpin of the regime be?
www.discountdealstore.com
The rejection of the petition paves the way for the oath-taking ritual to be performed without any legal challenge. The SDF had rejected the appointment of ELECAM members, saying they are all CPDM militants who cannot be neutral in the eventual discharge of their duties.
The major controversy hinges on the fact that most of the ELECAM members are acolytes of the New Deal regime. One glaring example cited concerns Thomas Ejake Mbonda, erstwhile Southwest Regional Governor and currently Inspector General in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation.
Ejake Mbonda was Tuesday, January 27 decorated with the Commander of the Order of Valour by the Minister of State in charge of Territorial Administration, Marafa Hamidou Yaya, who, himself, in the past, supervised elections.
In condemning the ELECAM appointments, the SDF has maintained that President Paul Biya violated the law. The party holds that the ELECAM members lack independence and credibility.
It pointed out that the Chairman of ELECAM, Dr. Samuel Fonkam Azu'u is a member of the Central Committee of the ruling CPDM while another member, Dr. Dorothy Limunga Njeuma is a member of the political bureau of the party.
The Fru Ndi-led party prayed the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court to restore the rule of law in the matter and not swear-in the ELECAM members until President Biya appoints real independent members to man the election management body.
But the court rejected the SDF petition, saying that it was not justifiable. The oath-taking ceremony at the Supreme Court in Yaounde takes place against a backdrop of across-the-board disapproval in the country. Many people are pessimistic as to whether the calibre of personalities chosen to man ELECAM will organise free, fair and transparent elections that Cameroonians have been yearning for since the re-introduction of multi-party democracy in the country in 1990.
According to one of the legal advisers of the SDF, Hon. Joseph Mbah Ndam, even CDPM militants know that the ELECAM members cannot organise free and fair elections. The MP said since the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court has rejected the SDF demand; they hope President Biya would annul the ELECAM appointments. He said President Biya still has enough time to come to reason and cancel the appointments.
Mbah Ndam reiterated the position of his party that no elections will be allowed to take place under the present circumstances. Also, the Secretary General of the Alliance of Progressive Forces, AFP, Maidadi Saidou, said the oath-taking ritual is the worst thing that is happening to the Cameroonian electoral process. To him, the swearing-in of people who will rig elections for the CPDM is a very dangerous precedence that could lead Cameroon to a catastrophe.
Maidadi remarked that even though the violation of the law is very clear in the ELECAM appointments, the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court could not decide otherwise because its hands are tied.
As Cameroonians continue to nurse misgivings about ELECAM, the pioneer chair of the outfit, Dr. Fonkam Azu'u has pleaded with sceptics not to dismiss them with the wave of the hand. "Let Cameroonians give us a chance and judge us by what we will do," he said.
Pot-bellied monkeys who are brainless, greedy, malignant and murderers are amusing themselves with this ELECAM charades.
Dr. Fonkam Azu'u has pleaded with sceptics not to dismiss them with the wave of the hand. "Let Cameroonians give us a chance and judge us by what we will do," he said.
And for how many more years will Cameroonians keep giving you chances? 100?

"Let Cameroonians give us a chance and judge us by what we will do,"!!!!What an annoying thing to say! When you declare Biya the victor in 2011, implying more suffering on Cameroonians for another 7 years, I guess you will be satisfied then. The bad thing is these unscrupulous CPDM scribes don't know how precious time really is.7 years is just too much time for this suffering to continue on poor Cameroonians while a few remain up there to keep swelling their accounts.Let's face facts, 7years is not 7days, I guess you just want to give Biya more time to think of another game he can play on Cameroonians come 2018...if at all God lets him live till then. And for those Supreme Court devils, your time aint far too.Biya will take you all down the drains with him.A country with no Rule of Law, respect for Human Rights...with one of the best but most disregarded constitutions and laws...with an unpatriotic leader, oh, where the hell are we heading?

Honorable Dr Agbormbai has provided a realistic response to this. Surviving life everyday is a nightmare for ordinary Cameroonian families. Prolonging their suffering despite all this patience is tantamount to suicide. God bless our people.

Cameroon is a unique country where the wishes of the people are never respected. The whole world has just witnessed the country's supreme court dashed the last hopes of peace in that country.Every body responsible for that mess would account for it.A certain generation cannot be the underdog for a whole life time. What we need now is a leader, willing to assembly the people and enable them fight for their rights.A particular group of people cannot be above the entire masses and hold them hostile. The youths have no jobs,no future,no hopes and any person to lead a rebellion wouldn't lack followers.Forging an understanding with the so called 'pirates' or 'terrorist' for a start isn't a bad idea.A buffer zone with a friendly neighbouring country just fits well in the equation. We should go to the BUSH to enforce changes in Cameroon.

Cameroon Oye!
The point some don't get is that the Supreme court judges do not even have the balls to advice Paul Biya on the intricacies of his poor judgment. By the way, is it poor judgment or a willful act? I'd say both. This is like stealing in daylight.
I mean, put people whom might even inspire some positive doubt, not the most fervent militants.
Everybody has has taken vacation from intellectual and moral uprightness. The Judges, the advisers and all the aides whose jobs are to advice the president are all scared to lose their jobs by proposing any thing that counteracts Biya's decisions.
It's like 'let me have my, share quietly'
I keep saying, till Biya dies, there will be no bright day in Cameroon

Dr. Agbormabai,
if 'the nation should rise' statement of yours is an expression of the outrage, I'm with you and isn't that what we want?
However, if you or Rexon actually meant that uprising for real, then that's a little naive.
I'll give you a reason or two, with the absence of any statistics, Cameroon holds the number one drinking spot in Africa. I doubted this but my little travels around Africa seemed to have confirmed this. Off Licenses have taken over the major cities and even rural areas.
Except for the periodical minor food shortages in the north, Cameroonians have sufficient food to eat. The people can't sacrifice their lives when they can enjoy it to a minimum level.
Cameroonians are looking forward to a new day, not necessarily the one the opposition tells them about.
Anyway, what opposition are we talking about? When Ngolle Ngolle becomes minister, the CPDM must win by all means in Bangem. 'opposition by name' militants switch their support so that their kindred stays on the plum.
Ni John lost the plot to send people to the streets and even fights for his own personal liberty. Whose going to or can do it?
I forgot chief Ayamba is like a little rat when standing against La Republique. What does he even do apart from travelling and quarelling with the other purported leaders of the SCNC?
We are all just waiting for time to be on our side. But while waiting, what do we do?
We can create NGO's in the US, visit The Post every now and then, the SDF can use its little airtime on the radio to scream out its lungs, we can talk about the arrests of fake or real activists and dreamers can hope for a Barack Obama hand.
But I suggest we also do one thing, pray very hard like Nigerians prayed for Sani Abacha's death.
That might be the only time we can see any change.

We have said too much already. No amount of words will make any effect.Win is the way out.We can't keep on making Biya and his CPDM Criminals to feel that, cameroonians are too weak.
Words are no longer needed.Action,Action.To me, i will leave china next week, for Pakistan,With just 10 of those guys from Pakistan, We are sure to hold Yaounde hostage, for Biya to think.I am tired of the too much talking.Action i mean

I banged my head again, I cried again, I wailed once more and my voice and pain died without being heard again!
I believe that is the case with everyone single Cameroonian that holds the value of justice, that understands the importance of the power to be able to achieve the impossible. Above all those that hold Cameroon dear to their hearts!
What imbeciles that only think of their own well being. What wicked leaders that are bent in their evil ways to make a people remained forever strangled to suffering.
Again, here I go again into a feat of complaining and name calling and usage obnoxious adjective to describe them...What is the point? I guess that is the life of an ordinary and disillusioned Cameroonian. I know there is a saying that every dog has its own day!

you really got it. that is the sad but truth reality of cameroonian. Our passivity is phenomenal, no one can comprehend it. I know a foreign diplomat in yaounde who said he had packed his belonging and sent his family to safety in his homeland twice, thinking that Cameroon will "burn" but he couldn't believe nothing happened. the first time was in 1992 when Biya stole elections and the second time was 1994 when salaries were slashed by 70%. If nothing happened then, NOTHING will ever happen. that is just how we are. is it a good thing? is it a bad thing? only the future will tell. but as of now, let continue to be passively raped on a daily basis and praise our rapist for his "great ambitions".
Me too i blame myself for being a "coward" because all i did was to flee from that country, i got my green card last year and i am counting, in 4 years i will be a US citizen and that will save me from the "shame" of not having anything to say to my children about why Cameroon is so poor. i will instead tell them about how our founding father fought for our independence from the british, how Lincoln liberated the slaves, how our heroes fought the civil war, our we won WWI,WWII, the gulf war, and of course (and with pride) how my generation produced OBAMA! waooo, the list is long, but truly i wish i could be talking about Cameroon.

You are an IDIOT, a maasive one for that matter. Comments like these are the epitome of what is wrong with Africa. We have a bunch of fools like yourself who try to bury their identities and beg the white man for a Eurocentric indoctrination. There is nothing wrong with getting a green card, as long you remember who you are. You even have the audacity to say that you will not school your children on your cameroonian culture and heritage. What nerve! do you think you are American? do you think any amount of paper will ever make you fully American? keep deceiving yourself. You will always remain a monkey in the eyes of America, an immigrant trying to fake accents and fit in. You will always remain on the outside looking in but you will never be accepted into the community. Idiots like yourself go and marry white women in a bid to cover up your genes. Inferiority complex is killing you. You inferior monkey. Africa doesn't need people like yourself. Go away and never come back YOU SLAVE!!! Good riddance.

Dr. Tan, I have asked you time and again, where did you get your PH.D? I really need to know.

As long as we continue to play it safe in Cameroon,we will never see happy days.Iraq is slowly blossoming into a stable state losing at least 100,000 of theirs and more than 4000 US young men.Cote D'Ivoire will be stronger after the instability that peeled off all the layers of deep rooted hatred.Cameroon cannot, and will not survive for long without going down this path. All the ills and grievances have gone unpunished.500,000 Bamilekes, and 15,000 Doualas were slaughtered by the Ahidjo regime with the blessings of the French.Notable patriots were eliminated. The Biya regime has even gone further.Political assassinations,Bepanda 9,
February 2008 riots,1984 coup attempt, you name them. The Cameroonian people have not yet fought back with all their might. The time seems to be ripe. The Ambassadors of the US,Britain,Canada and the EU representative rightly stayed away from the swearing in of Elecam members. They did not want to give moral caution to what will soon be a contentious situation in Cameroon.
Andre Fokam,
Your write up sounds good.It shows the plight of all Cameroonians. We can hang onto anything now to survive. You tried to show your helplessness, and why you took certain decisions.Don`t listen to that little bought over brother of yours. He has difficulties using the English he learnt.Just look at his name, and try to reconcile the image of somebody always trying to pit one part of the country to another,or whites against blacks. He is insecure with his own identity.Your last sentence captures the dilemma you now find yourself in.

WATESIH,you have said it all.No country in the world have ever developed without having difficult moment, look at Japan, china,Germany etc etc.We cannot stay quiet while a single person destroy the whole nation.Cote D'Ivoire will come out very strong.Paul biya is a disaster to cameroon.I think in 2011 we should tell him enough is enough.

chicken hearts can only scream on this forum calling for a Revolution.
Will you stop screaming and go to work?????

Cameroonians are not yet ready for change. They sit and make noise about the SDF.
In a country where people are tired of a dictator and want change, there would have been a spontaneous uprising after the supreme court rejected the petition.

Dear all,
Is there any oppositon party in in Cameroon?
I learnt Adamu Ndamu Njoya and Jean Jacque Ekindi attended the swearing in ceremony. Fru Ndi would have joint them.
Dr Tan, you will be judged by your ideas not by your qualification for such titiles are not necessary in this forum
Posted by: Radicalbrother | Sunday, 01 February 2009 at 08:42 AM
Fon I can't agree more with you more. As someone said above, Cameroonians have enough of what it takes to continue living. They get up in the morning and have breakfast, lunch in the afternoon and supper in the evening. They go to sleep with their eyes open watching as Biya continues to rape that beloved nation. (I think I should rather say we because I am one). We shall decide to uproot Biya and his gang members when have nothing to live on anymore. But I strongly believe God wants Biya to die a natural death and avoid some blood shed. That is why God has blessed us with enough food and some little money to meet up with some of our basic needs.
The clock is still ticking and Biya will soon reach the "end of the tunnel".
God bless Cameroonians of good will and even Biya and his disciples. Satan got a place for them if they don't repent.
Shalom

Just Thinking Aloud
Are we in any way saying that everybody in the CPDM is bad? What if the CPDM presents a new candidate in 2011 who is ready to bring the real change that we desire? I'm asking this because rexon and his followers seem to be advocating for CPDM to be wiped out. I know a lot of good people in the CPDM who can bring real change in Cameroon if given the chance.

I wonder what this fools teach their kids at home . they are all low down little mother fuckers. They have shown to that ass hole how desperate they are. but one day they shall stand by watch how this same country will change and they will be ashamed of their greedy deeds. what face are we given to our only son(Obama) who have managed to change the way people look at negros . I wonder how these same people feel when they travel abroad . Don't they see how good policy works for people . all they know how to do is to make us look like low class people who live from junks. what insult those a negro doesn't get . now are days calling u an African in my neighbour hood is an insult. why so ? why afre we the last ?
why can't we change from our wicked ways ? love each other and hold hands . Why can't these people let the people pursue the desire of their dreams .
PUT ONE DAY WE SHALL CHOOSE HOPE OVER FEAR
GOD BLESS CAMEROON

USAfoolca,
It's great you can only manage acknowledging people now.Man order and sanity are going to reign on this forum!I chip in my own contributions as an individual, keeping in mind everybody has their own story to tell.Taking into consideration the work we have to do to develop ourselves, nobody can tolerate vicious attacks on others, low life tactics, tribalism, selective memory, sexism, which have all been used by you time and again.I attack these type of filth, whether they are coming from my own dad, you,Andre, you name them. That's why you are surprised that I took sides with him.If he were to emulate you in your low-life world view ,I will still come out swinging. Our lessons here are beginning to sink into your troubled soul, that's why in less than a week you have called out on people who describe others unfavorably,or use your type of language. Keep up!

Nothing has ever given me optimism like the current economic downturn. This is another golden opportunity to show Biya the way out. Some of us will lose our jobs. Some of us will have a drastic slash on our salaries, we will no longer afford to send money back home, festivities will be strictly on invitation, thieves will start stealing from thieves, climate change may curb productivity greatly, the most agreeing and understanding couple or group may decide to disagree and every "rich" person in Cameroon will have thieves for neighbours.
Dear Forumates
It is becoming very evident that we need to pay some few Pakistanis and Iraqis suicide bombers to oust this regime and send some its fervent supporters like the Ngolle Ngolles on exile; even before 2011. So long as every hardworking Cameroonian can still afford routined meals on daily basis, counting on them is a waist of time.
We'd keep posting here for sport, we'd criticize others' comments when our ideas have been heard again and agin. At the end of the day, we'd go to sleep.
