Ten students of Government Secondary School Kikaikelaki in Kumbo Central Subdivision recently benefited from a government scholarship of FCFA 10,000 each for 2007/2008 school year.
The occasion also witnessed the award of over 30 prizes to students who excelled in the activities of the National Day of Bilingualism and the National Youth Day on February 11.
The prizes ranged from ledgers, exercise books to pens. GSS Kikaikelaki Principal, Nweboh J. Buinyui Rarly, in his speech, thanked all the students and teachers for the efforts they put in to gain the scholarship.
Mr. Buinyui, while thanking the Minister of Secondary Education for the scholarship, appealed to the government to construct at least two classrooms and toilets, as well as provide water and electricity for the school during the next financial year.
He called on parents who have sent their children to school to equip them with all their needs such as textbooks and school fees. He, however, warned those parents who deter other parents not to send their children to school.
The Principal also warned all those who encroach on school land to desist as their crops would be destroyed. He thanked the Parent-Teacher Association of the school for working hard to provide the school with classrooms.
It's a big shame for a minister to hand a scholarship of only 10,000frs to such intelligent students. Can the minister give 10,000 frs to his kids? As the saying goes, governmetal bandits are greedy people. That is why a Cameroonian minister is proud to offer a 10, 000 frs scholarship to students who can be his own kids. I can blame the principal of GSS Kikaikelika( J.Buingui ) for his own share of the cake. I wise the students good luck in their education. How much money have you saved in your famous swits bank account? How many stories building do you have ?
