There is a myth which says you can't do anything about your character orientation. For instance, once a thief, always a thief.
That, at least, is the popular wisdom bolstered by criminology theories. The criminal, you know, does, after all, have a brain smaller than a kola nut and there is only so much you can expect of that.
The Yaounde kleptomania is a mailed fist on the scabrous arm of organised crime girdling Cameroon. The fist has its fingers in the very bowels of the Cameroonian society, exemplified by snitchers of Gaullist affiliations at whatever level: in the swank parlours of Etoudi Palace, in the streets, everywhere. No one or event is immune from the attacks of the Yaounde Mafia.
In the minds of the men and women of the Yaounde Mafia, evil is perpetuated in the womb. The New Dealers are like maggots in the businesses, the hospitals, in the judiciary, the legislature, the police, the media houses and even in Churches.
What would you expect from people who cannot organise a duck race and are asked to organise a race involving hundreds of athletes? Ah, well, it is not surprising that the Yaounde Empire is a gang of thieving forest baboons.
Cameroon's colony of the protected species of freebooters has taken to foraging in public tills. They have learnt the art of purloining at any given opportunity; always waiting for the next hit on the list. They even seem to enjoy the havoc they create, swinging from their gutters as they move from mission to mission in search of booty, stopping occasionally to just play around.
They came to Buea with their dog pack instincts. You know, food and mating are the ways of pack dogs - pack members driving off weaklings from the kill and stealing meaty bones from the lower ranking dogs. And, so, when it comes to food and money, the Yaounde Mafia doesn't hesitate to tell all comers "no".
This is the genesis of a lot of Cameroon's food and money aggression problems perpetuated by the Yaounde coterie. They have this congenital wild dog instinct to wrestle food away, drag off the prey, or stand over the food, claiming it at least as much for gourmandising as for nutrition.
The recent Cameroon Mt. Race of Hope was a platform to display and demonstrate pitiable degeneracy, adorable thievery and dog pack behaviour. FCFA 150 million went up in smoke. FCFA 4.5 million was gobbled for "porters"; the helicopter guzzled FCFA 1.5 million just to hang over.
Two hundred and fifty officials, most from the Sports and Physical Education Ministry came along with some intrepid baboons that have turned to a life of deceit and crime. Some of them whose names did not appear on the "Yaounde List" were paid in cash: up to FCFA 120,000 on the spot; some 100 athletes did not participate; multiply these by FCFA 10,000 participation fee and you come up with a cool FCFA 2 million that found its way into a private pocket. Some of the marauders went as far as robbing hotels of bills and meals. God in heaven!
And this is how these blithering morons have spifflicated Cameroon; a wealthy nation by all standards, which would have been beyond reproach, had God not willed it otherwise and chosen to bring trouble upon it in the form of a languorous and crapulous reprobate clique - all they care about is food and drink, so long as someone else is paying.
They have stolen and stolen and yet they want to steal more with mindless vandalism. The thugs have no respect for persons or property and the police and the judiciary are powerless to help.Until taught otherwise, they will always try to steal!
