Issue #08 of Summit Magazine is now available in newsstands in Cameroon. This issue includes an exclusive interview with Prof. Anomah Ngu, the one-time Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine in Ibadan, winner of the prestigious Lasker Award for his groundbreaking research on cancer, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Yaounde, and former Cameroonian Minister of Public Health, who is now under a cloud of controversy, and even ridicule, over his claims that he has found a vaccine for AIDS.
In what is his most extensive interview ever, Prof. Ngu outlines the scientific basis for his Vanhivax vaccine which he claims is both preventive and curative, takes on his critics who now refer to the once venerated medical doctor as a charlatan, and also walks down memory lane, revisiting his role in the (re)unification of the two Cameroons, his University of Ibadan days, his relationships with presidents Ahidjo and Biya, among other issues.
Whether one disagrees or not with Prof. Ngu's claims that he has discovered an AIDS vaccine, one cannot help but be impressed with his stellar professional career. Thanks to a well-researched interview, Summit Magazine has successfully captured the essence and life of this colossus who at 83 is at the twilight of his life. Hopefully the Prof. will be ultimately vindicated and will not see his stellar career go up in flames over the Vanhivax controversy.
This issue also includes many interesting profiles including those of University Distinguished Professor Ndiva Kofele-Kale and gospel singer Anita Etta.

This is how frogs kill our ingenuity.
i often wonder what "mal chance" pushed the Southern Cameroons into this unholy union.
Prof. Anomah Ngu will be vindicated, hopefully while he is still alive.
I am sure if he were a frog the Camerounaise Gov't would be singing his praises all over the world.

"Hopefully the Prof. will be ultimately vindicated and will not see his stellar career go up in flames over the Vanhivax controversy."
Pro. Ngu is not claiming anything. He has evidence, which we are blind to. An experienced researcher like Prof. Ngu can not voice out findings, without substantial evidence of support. Those who believe should go to him and be cured. That should be the only evidence.

What does anglo/franco problems have to do with this. VANHIVAX either works or does not work. Period. It's not rocket science. There has been no scientific proof that it has "cured" Aids. If there was Dr Ngu would have presented it.

Tembo, have you read either the interview or the papers that Anomah Ngu has published on Vanhivax? Or independent studies on patients who have used the drug?

The problem with us Africans is that we don't believe other fellow Africans. If all this was done by a white we will be interested to try the drugs.rather than seat and make criticism it's better you send an AIDS patient to him and clear your doubts

I don't know what to make to this. I know the good Dr and as a scientist myself and working for a major drug company it is very unlikely that the scientific community is deftly silent on this. This would be a huge money maker. I remain skeptical

It is good to be skeptical about any scientific or health claims, but you must be skeptical about your employers, or perhaps you do not really know them. Pharmaceutical companies are in the business of making money and not of curing disease. They are not that interested in cures as in remedies. There is one time money to be made in a cure, for example, something that cures AIDS or hypertension once and for all. There are many examples of pharmaceutical companies suppressing what seem to be potential cures. They do that by mockery, use of negative press and when that does not work, using their friends in government to suppress rather than investigate. If Prof Ngu has discovered a cure for AIDS, he will not receive funding to provide statistical proof through research. They prefer that people pay for expensive drugs over a life time. Things like Viagra are the darlings of the drug industry. They do not cure impotence but relieve it temporary and men would buy it again and again and again at outrageous prices. The question for me is, if I have AIDS, would I go to Prof Ngu for treatment? Most definitely. What is there to lose?

cameroonians should learn to appreciate rather criticising negatively to kill talents.
Prof i think you are doing a great job and more grease to your elbows.
To the Cameroonian government, please provide the necessary assistance so that Prof can carry on with this research which will not only help cameroonians but the entire humanity

The Professors theory is very simple. Uncoating the lipid layer of a virus facilitates the contact of important viral particles with white blood cells which is our natural defence army. This in turn are better placed to build more powerful antibodies which provide the kind of immunity the professor describes.
This is a new theory which could only be proven or disproven through the work of research. French and american companies have been to Cameroon in the name of cooperation but have ended up stealing from his research papers. The only way anyone can say he is wrong is by scientifically disproving him. Which all the large mouth doctors in Yaounde and Douala did not do. They were simply voicing their opinion pushed by jealousy. Even the government promised to fund and expand the research work currently going on but has failed to do so.
I challenge you socalled Southern Cameroonians who usually point fingers at socalled Frogs. How many of you have made an attempt to assist the professor, with all your elite associations, Njangi groups, Bushfallers and so on. Before you remove a splitter from someones eyes first of all take away the rock in yours
