Culled from RFI (A translation by Peter Vakunta)
Cameroonians voted on Sunday during the presidential election described as «cacophony» by the opposition.Paul Biya in power for 29 years is likely to be the winner. According to the SDF, main opposition party in Cameroon, one of its spokespersons has been assassinated in Bandjoun in the Western region of the country by members of the ruling CPDM party.
Officials of the Social Democratic Front(SDF)reported that its spokesperson was killed on Sunday October 9th, 2011 following skirmishes in a polling station in Bandjoun in the Western Region. The Social Democratic Front affirms that the official was killed by the local representatives of the Cameroon People's Democratic Party(CPDM): his only crime, according to the SDF communique, is that he wanted to ensure that the voting in that polling station was conducted in a transparent manner. The Cameroonian government,on its part, claims to have no precise information about the incident.
In a related incident, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization,Marafa Hamidou Yaya, reports that two gendarmes were killed yesterday by unidentified individuals in the Bakassi Peninsula. According to the Minister, the two gendarmes were on assignment to monitor the electoral process in the region. An enquiry has been opened.
Other incidents have been reported in the country. In Yaoundé and Douala, voting took place without incident. Polling stations were opened very late, close to three hours behind scheduled commencement time. In some cases voting started much later. This poll widely seen as a charade has not enthused many Cameroonians. There were no long lines in front of polling stations, but there were many voters who desperately looked for their voting stations in vain and then gave up.Most polling stations were virtually empty.
UPDATE:
According to the government spokesperson Issa Tchiroma, the victim was not an SDF militant, and was actually rejoicing over the alleged victory of President Biya at the polling station when she was attacked.

"She turned her car onto the last stretch of straight drive leading her directly, face to face, to Hill House and, moving without thought, pressed her foot on the brake to stall the car and sat, staring.

Why most the CPDM manipulate elections all the times,Why should president Biya prolongs his mandate after his failure after 29 year in power. What can he does in 7 years that after 29 years he didn't succeed to do.One day this wall of fear will be broken and the world will see that Cameroonian were living in fear of the regime of the dictator Paul Biya who make sure to mentain the army for his dictatorship.During elections in cameroon, the military, police, Gerndames, BIR are paid huge some of money to cast a vote for Biya
