Translated from French by Dr. Peter Wuteh Vakunta
Dear Compatriots and Friends of Cameroon:
In conformity with the terms of the resolutions adopted by the Front for a United Cameroonian Diaspora opposed to the simulacrum of presidential elections billed for Sunday October 9th in Cameroon, our
organization code-named Diaspora for Modernity, will be conducting a peaceful sit-in in front of the Cameroonian Embassy in Ottawa-Canada from 09:30am- 5:30 pm on October 9 th, 2011. The purpose of this protest is threefold:
1. We want to witness with our own eyes as well as video-tape for posterity the faces of those Cameroonians who have opted to work in collusion with the dictatorial regime in Yaoundé that has turned its backs on the Cameroonian people chaffing in distress. We want to be witnesses to the actions of those traitors who will be working against the legitimate aspirations of the Cameroonian people by participating in this electoral charade. We want to see for ourselves the faces of those accomplices who are working in tandem with the dictator Paul Biya and his electoral fraud machine called ELECAM to thwart the efforts of the Cameroonian people who are working toward the attainment of genuine sovereignty.
2. While at the Cameroonian Embassy in Ottawa, we will be conducting a plebiscite intended to determine who is for or against Paul Biya’s stay in power in Cameroon. The results of this plebiscite shall be published on the same day that the tyrant Paul Biya will declare the results of his phony presidential elections. The results shall shed ample light on the truth about the opinion of the majority of Cameroonians in Canada on the important question of the state of affairs in our fatherland at the moment.
3. Ultimately, our sit-in will be an opportunity for Cameroonians in Canada, 95% of whom have been fraudulently excluded from this ‘electoral process’, to testify to the hollowness of this parody of an election the purpose of which is to enable the tyrannical despot Paul Biya to maintain his autocratic stranglehold on the Cameroonian people, after failing woefully to meet the aspirations of Cameroonians for 30years.
Is it not incumbent upon every patriotic Cameroonian to rise up against the evil that has been eating into the fabric of our nation since 1982? Is not the duty of every Cameroonian to stand firm against a cancerous system that has confiscated the sovereignty of the Cameroonian people, aided and abetted corruption to the point of making it a governmental modus operandi, and pushed our country to the brink of extinction?
It is our fervent hope that you would do an examination of conscience and think twice about stabbing your own people in the back by participating in an election that has been rigged beforehand by Cameroon’s dictator Paul Biya with the help of ELECAM. Participating in this poll will serve the sole purpose of deepening the wounds that have been inflicted on the Cameroonian people by the dictatorship in Yaoundé. In this light, we invite you to talk ten members of your close circle of friends into boycotting the upcoming shenanigan that some people term an election for lack of a better word.
We look forward to seeing you at Cameroonian Embassy in Ottawa
Long live Cameroon!
Michael Fogain, Spokesperson for Diaspora for Modernity
