Dr. Peter Wuteh Vakunta
When I dined with Lucifer,
Sarcasm was my apparel.
Not anymore; in communion with Christ,
I adorn a cloak of lexical prudence.
When I supped with the Devil,
Prevarication was my modus operandi.
To the chagrin of friends and foes.
At present candor is my hallmark.
When I feasted with Beelzebub,
Conceit was my accoutrement.
In Christ’s company,
Humility is my stock-in-trade.
When I peregrinated with Mammon,
Levity was my badge.
In the abode of the Lord,
Compunction is my insignia.
When I hung out
With the offspring of Evil,
Sorcery was my armor.
In deliverance I shun fetishism.
When I sojourned with Satan,
Inebriety was my opium.
In the wake of redemption,
Sobriety is my new opiate.
When the Demon and I
Were bedfellows well met,
I was unabashedly mercurial.
Today I am phlegmatic.
When I was Iscariot’s room-mate,
I loathed the Scriptures.
Today morphed into penya-penya,
I gobble from the Biblical gourd.
Lord God Almighty
Has shredded all existential fluff
And rendered me invulnerable
To human machinations-Hallelujah!
